first big tat

morning all

going for my first big tattoo this morning, and getting a bit nervous but also very excited.

the tat guy tells me it will be 3 or 4 sittings.ouch!!!:w00t:

anyone got any advice such as aftercare and DEALING WITH THE “PAIN”

Don’t have a tat? You’ll avoid all the pain that way. Or just bite a nice hard piece of toffee and dream of the flowers and bees.

i respect your opinon, but im going for the toffee.

When you say big, are we talking right across your chest or something?

half sleeve.shoulder down to my elbow.will post so pics later

have fun…no blood and gore pictures again please…oh go on then if there is a lot of blood…there are a few vamps on here who will love it…

Bring a chocolate bar. You don’t wanna pass out as your blood sugar drops to cope with the adrenaline rush you get when having a tat. If your only having an hour at a time you’ll be fine.

I had a 5 hour session on my back. Wont be doing that again! Some people deal with it better, you’ll be fine.

Although someone did pass out in my local shop, and wet himself.

Sounds like fun…

If you like pain perhaps you can get some tips from Max Mosley

Oh and if you wanna read other peoples stories about first tats look up www.bmezine.com

I always take a HOOGE bag of penny sweets a right good mixture…that way you can share em with your tattooist!:D;) I’m envious have’nt got the spare time or dosh for more ink at the mo:crying:

did someone mention blood?

As Diablo says if it’s only an hour at a time you’ll be fine.

As for aftercare buy a huge tube of Savlon, then apply it everyday after you’ve had a bath or shower. Don’t rub the tat/area dry with a towel, pat it dry or you’ll run the risk of damaging the skin/ink, and don’t pick the scabs, just let them drop off naturally or again you’ll run the risk of damaging the skin/ink before it’s properly healed/sealed, this is the hardest part by the way as its so tempting to do, just like skinning your knee as a kid and then getting a nice big scab on it!

Both mine took about an hour each and it was no were near as bad as I expected so I’m sure if you’ve already got any ink you’ll be fine with this.

Look forward to seeing the pics.

NICE!

good luck!

Savlon can dry your tat out. Some people prefer it, I’ve been using Bepanthen, its a children’s nappy cream, gives you a moist barrier and takes the sting out of the after care. But each to their own.

Whoops, miss quoted, meant pompeytims!

I used it without any problems but everyone is different, my skin can be sensitive to some soap powders and shampoos (yes Chunks I do use shampoo but only a small amount due to my barnet being less than substantial! :P). Am I right in thinking you can also use E45 cream to protect/moisten the skin while the tat heals?

Yeah, thats ok, but it don’t take the sting away you still have that sunburnt feeling. Someone told me they used hemroid cream, apparently it healed it all up in 3 days? Don’t think I wanna try that.

Good luck with that mate, you’re either going to love the experience or hate it! Tattoo’s are like marmite!:stuck_out_tongue:

My aftercare has always been to have a shower a few hours after the tattoo, but don’t rub it with sponges or soap/ showercream!!! Pat it dry with a towel, this lets it scab a lot finer and helps stop you wanting to pick it all the time! As for savlon etc… If you ask the tattooist, they usually stock something called Tattoo Goo, or something similar. This helps the healing process and keeps out infection etc…

I’ve done this with all my tat’s and they all came out looking lovely;)

Get some pics up soon as mate:D

RR

second that:)

If you need any advise on aftercare, im a tattooist…
