Well it is in the bays in Bayswater and I thought in all the bays in westminster!
WRONG!!!
I park up in Romily street, Soho to take the lady out for some Valentines fun Saturday around 1pm.
I did not even check the bay as Saturday is a non chargeable day? Well that’s what I thought.
Only to come back after a really nice meal and have a ticket stamped on my bike.
The sign says:
Monday to Saturday!!
7am to 7pm
When did this happen!! I came back to check what was going on in Bayswater where I live to check and its Monday to Friday.
Is this a new thing for the feckin council to change the times without notice or has it been like that for a while? I’m sure I have parked there many a times before on a Saturday for dinner. Am I going mad or has this always been Mon-Sat?
Anyway I’m going to complain about this, any nice angles I could pose?
That caught me out as well a couple of weeks ago. fortunately I saw the traffic warden writing tickets in time walking back to my bike so I could push it on to a yellow line before he came to write my ticket.
It’s madness as there’s never many people parking in the weekends.
7am-7pm? Are you sure it’s not until 1830? The car parking finishes at 1830 and it would really be taking the **** if they had added 30 mins on to the Bike restrictions. Sadly it’s always been a M-Sa area…
Bummer - and you’re not the only one to have been caught out by confusion around this scheme either.
BTW if you want a channel for your frustration there’s a demo on Tuesday at 5:45 pm at Westminster City Hall on Victoria St - stand up and be counted! I will be going along anyway
I’m currently disputing a CCTV ticket with Lambeth and I got some advice here. They might be able to offer advice.
It would be worth asking for a copy of the TRO (traffic order) that covers that road. If it’s not written well or makes different conditions for bikes and cars then there is a chance to appeal it.
This site is pretty helpful on what you can and can’t appeal:
Thats crazy!! Sadly mine was more of a case of not looking to check the times of parking.
Yours seems worth fighting.
I always thought that after 6.30pm you could park on the single white lines anyway.
