I had an accident last month with a car, as they wnet into the back of me at redbridge roundabout (right next to the station). We swapped insurance details, (as i saw her insurance certificate with her car make and modle on it)and i forgot to get her car reg.
When i gave them to my insurance company, they have now just told me that they are invalid. I went ot the police who wasn’t much her, and now i trying to find cctv fortage as well.
Can anyone help as this is getting frustrating.

you could try the Motor Insurance Bureau but I don’t think you will have much luck as you don’t have any car details…
Such a shame but we have all learnt the hard way believe me.
After my past experiences I always call the police now no matter how small an accident…

if shes given you false details, i’d leave it, your bike isnt too badly damaged and your ok? cut ya losses, i would, as much as you may not want to, its probably the for the best as trying to get anywhere with it is gonna be long and drawn out and probably go nowhere?

I gonna try contact the DVLA and see if they will help - but we have the data protection act, which the police can overcome, if they bloody wanted to help me!
Gonna try and see if there any CCTV footage, as i’m sure there is a camera just near there.
If you’ve got a right bee sting your a$$ about it… you could goto the measures of searching for the driver on facebook/myspace, providing they’ve given you their correct name.
I would get a move on as most places only keep records for 30days unless something happens

Had bus go in to the back of my car there a few years ago. Fortunately they admitted liability straight away.
I know it’s sort of after the horse has bolted, but in future always take some photos with your mobile.

get teh police to contact the DVLA, keep on thier case, and check he cctv, be prepared for a lot of hassle tho!
what details do you have ?
eg name, car type etc ?
I can vouch for learning the hard way - i actually ripped off their number plate - well…rather i was holding it whilst they reversed!!! (They said they were nipping home to get the isurance details and knew that was a line!)
I told the police, i gave them the reg plate (literally) they went round to the house (1mile away) and said that because they had dogs on the grounds they wouldnt knock on the door!!!
Instead they sent a letter which - surprise surprise was never replied to - for months i drove past the house on my way to work seeing the very car that had hit me (minus the number plate) and felt completely and utterly FUGGED by the system.
There was never any come back and i ended up losing my excess and no claims bonus. The gypsy scum that hit me was probably never insured and got away with EVERYTHING
That is until one day i couldnt stand it any longer - seeing the car there every day and the stupid woman playing with her dogs on the front lawn…needless to say she paid a price in the end but im not about to incriminate myself on here!

Well Done.That was the next line of thought. This is beacuse the police are not concerned what so ever. They are so unhelpful, but when your in trouble, they’re every where.

Did you get the impression that she might have used this route on a regular basis?
Might it be worth sitting there on the same weekday time with a flask and some sarnie?

Pity you didn’t get the car details as for £17:50 the DVLA will forget all about the Data Protection Act and give you chapter and verse on the vehicle/owner. All you have to do is to show just reason why you need this information. (I think they take the £17:50 cheque to be the just reason.)
The next problem is, if the Insurance Cert. is a phony, probably everything else is, so you’d be no further forward.
You could try reminding the police that the driver has committed a criminal offence, but you’d probably be wasting your time.
I think it comes down to a choice. Write it off as a learning experience or hunt the bas*ard down. The first hurts, the second could take a lot of effort for no return.

What are the exact details on the insurance certificate? Is it a fake, or is it just out of date? If it’s just out of date, the details on there must somehow link back to the car/ owner.

Did the police actually take an accident report? Exactly what did they say when you spoke to them? Do you have any reference number from the police? Can you PM me some details?
If you are Third Party cover only, then you could try approaching the MIB http://www.mib.org.uk/MIB/en/Default.htm and see if they can do anything from the Uninsured Drivers fund.
