Embarrasing Query!

Guys, happy new year.

Got a problem and i am rather embarrased. Only because its about my baby bike a Siamoto 150 Favorite…Can i hear you say…WHAT THE F*** is that?

Its my run around bike and it looks ugly. I only bought it so that the pesky teens dont nik it, it would do more harm than good if they were caught niking it, let alone riding it.

I have a problem with the odometer, the speed indicator in particular and wondered if anyone can help me. When i ride say 20mph the speed dial makes some high speed grinding noise and the dial moves all the way to the end (i.e top speed) and then it grinds back into the actual speed reading ( i think as there is no way of telling). This has been happening quite a bit this week but today it just makes noise all the time and the reading goes straight to top speed. and makes less noise now.

I looked at the cable on the front wheel and that looks intact.

Just wondered what the problem could be and how i can fix it. Not that i will be breaking any speed limits with this bike but hey, rather get it fixed

cheers guys and keep warm

Hi there, the cable might ‘look’ intact, but the wire runs all the way inside, you have to take both ends off to check. Could be worth a re-grease.

Also does the motor still run OK when this happens? if it lurches a bit then you could have some clutch slip…

Umm clutch slipping, could be a possibility. But the engine seems to be ok and the drive is good too so probably not…

not sure about your own bike, my old fazer had a plastic spindle that went round with the wheel to detect the speed. Everytime the front wheel was coming off to change the tyre, you had to be very careful not to break the plastic clips, could be something has broken inside and is grinding away
