Some of you know I had a little off last Sunday, so I have been on Fleebay to get a few fairings etc…
I need a new nose cone, main dealer quoted me £101.89, not to bad I thought. I found one on ebay at the beginning of the week(£40) so I kept my eye on it.
Auction finished last night so I put a bid in and then got outbid , eventually the second hand part went for £92 plus p&p…
I was amazed- Some people really don’t do their research!!
Most people just assume they get a bargain on Ebay without checking it fully out I guess!. Heard a couple of “Doh!” stories from friends about Ebay.
One guy at my work paid £10 for an old club album CD he was looking for, when he received it… it was just a copy with Club Anthums 98 written on it in pen!,ha.
I also heard of a lady who brought her boy a MotoX bike off ebay and had to re-sell it on there at almost half the price. She did the “NO NO” of buying it without ever seeing it first… front forks were leaking, rear sprocket barely had teeth!, etc, etc… she got really stung bad!.. bless her though, as she didnt know what to check for when she took delivery of the bike… she just got told all was good with it until someone else took a look at it.
Whats that saying about a fool and their money being easily parted!
I once sold a second hand car stereo for more than it cost new on ebay, in the description of the item I included a link to the halfords website so people could see what car it would fit etc. The link showed the price and it was in stock from any store…and somebody still paid £20 more than new for it plus £7 postage despite it being 18 months old!
:ermm: I’m man enough to admit that I am a MUPPET. Just won an ebay auction for a pair of lovely new exhausts. I didn’t think I had a chance of winning the auction as there were five other bidders and I just chucked in a bid a couple of days before the auction ended. Chuffed when I won- thought I had a bargain (after all I got them for half price!) but then I went on the dealers website and found he was advertising them for £10 less than I ended up paying him. Doh! Too embarassed to admit my mistake to him. Next time I really must check a bit more thoroughly before getting carried away with the bidding.
Secondhand Givi top boxes in auctions regularly go for more on ebay once postage is included than they are available for new including postage from the buy it now retailers on ebay. What is the logic in that?
