Dyno and Power Commanders, Do I need both?

I was wondering, if i want to tune up the bike.

I want to take it to a dyno run and get it remaped with the new can and air filter.

Do I buy a power commander III usb for my bike and take it there and they will remap my commander or do they remap it with something else, meaning I dont need the commander?

Ok thanks in advance

Depends who you talk to really. Steve Jordan will tell you that he can map the ECU with some Suzuki software, better than a PC2 can be mapped, some will say that a Yoshbox can do a decent job on the stock ECU, and many people (including myself) are quite happy with a PC2 and some decent dyno time. How much money do you want to spend?

As FM said.

I had my TLR remapped using a Yoshi Box but it’s still not as good as I think it could be. I’ve got a shiney new PC3 ready to go once I get some dyno time at SDC booked.

On my TL’s I tried a Yoshbox tune first which made things much better, but when I fitted PC’s and spent some time on the dyno the difference was amazing (both had full systems though).

Apparently the newer FI Suzuki’s have 32 bit ECU’s, while I think the PC’s are 16 bit. If this is true, then theoretically the stock ECU could be re-programmed more accurately with Suzuki software than a PC with Dynojet software.

Thanks for the info guys. I guess I should speak to the chaps who are going to do the work. I was not hoping to spend that much money, more of a tweak to the safe margin that Suzuki put on tuning when manufactured.

I was going to West London Suzuki as they have a dyno there and a cool chart to rank your bike to others. Is it a big job to remap the bike through the 32 bit Ecu unit?

i would go with pc111 and custom map if you have changed can id goto andy at southern cross he will get the best out of your bike and they only charge for the time used unlike all other dynos who have a set price for job if its on there for 30mins or 4 hrs the donwloaded maps and the disc you get are ****

Ah! Thanks for the info woodster. I think I’ll have to check them out. Do you have details or will a google search do the job.

Oh yes BTW love the photo shoot of the R1! Did you get chance to take the model home with you too, she is a real peach, the R1 is not to be either.

found them thanks!
Did you have yours done here and if so how much did it set you back?
