hey russ

had my t9 serviced at daytona in ruislip

diid a good job and not as expensive as some… cehck out www.ducatisti.co.uk loads of links re independents for service in the area

only used daytona as still under warranty and need the stamp

Cheers,

Got a few recommendations from the guys over on the ducati sporting club, the concensus seems to be some guy down near Guildford.

The bike is almost out of warranty, and is now only going to be used as a track bike, all I really want is the belts checking/replacing and the book stamped, the rest I do myself.

Might give Daytona a ring later and see what they say. whichever I use I will have to trailer it there as its now SORN’d

Hmmm, not keen on Daytona personally, got a good deal on my bike there but servicing wasn’t good, customer service doesn’t exist there & bikes get scratched. I’ll be trekking to Parkinsons for my next service.

If warranty isn’t an issue then Dave Robinson in Wandsworth gets a lot of praise, as do Proteam…

Dave Robinson, 360 Old York Road, Wandsworth, London SW18 1SS. Tel 020-8871 0503

Ducati Proteam (Alec Short), Unit 18, 59 Weir Road, Wimbledon, London SW19 8UG. Tel 020-8947 7555

Don’t know about Ducatis specifically, but the independent I use in Normandy (near Guildford) have been superb so far and know bikes inside-out and work on just about anything. Family-run business, have been doing the work for about 40 years or more and have customers who’ve been going to them man and boy. Great bunch and good value. Normandy Motorcycles, 01483 235388. Give them a ring and ask, Pete or Jason.

Take a nice ride down to Ducati Aylesbury, line up a hire bike (£15) and have a nice shopping trip to Bicester Village.

Daytona are the rudest most useless, over priced bike shop ever.

If you want to spend big $$$$$$ go to pro-twins!

Bought a et4 125 vespa from Daytona in Islington/Angel - brand new and when they still did scoots, in 2002. Just before the one year warranty was up I started getting problems with the belts or auto clutch slipping or something. Pull away from lights and there would be no immediate “grab” of power if know what i mean. Took it into them and spoke to the tall thin goth looking dude with the long blonde hair. They told me they couldnt find any fault with it. Fine. The two months later and now OUT of warranty I think - bugger this - it just isnt right. Mate takes it for a spin - definitely not right. Take it back to them and they do their stuff and call me later to say that one of the rollers for the clutch is bust and needs replacing. The same dude shows me a picture of the part on a screen and does his spiel. Tells me that because it means going into the gear box etc big long job - will cost £350 - £400 to fix. WHAT?? And surely they must have taken it apart already, otherwise how did they know that ONE of the rollers was bust??? The bike is just over year old - looked after dearly as is was my first two wheels etc… and they told me a month or two prior when in warranty period that nothing was wrong. So I leave it and for a year and a half more I keep riding the bike with this problem happening every now and then, especially when it rains…? I then get a mobile scooter firm to do the next service and say tell the guy that by the way there is this problem etc but i dont know if it will cost a fortune to fix but please have a look at it. Get the bike back after the service and jeepers creepers - full power and drive again!!! I cannot remember what the mechanic said the problem was, but he fixed it and was so easy to fix that he didnt even charge for it. I have never forgotten this. IMHO DAYTONA (YES YOU TALL BLONDE THIN GUY WITH LONG HAIR) WAS TRYING TO F…NG FLEECE ME. TAKE CARE IS ALL I CAN SAY AND FIND SOMEONE YOU CAN TRUST.
