such different style
oh wow, brilliant perspective.
Does the doohan pic work for other people then?
The Doohan pic lives up to his reputation as a bit of a bar-room brawler on and off the track - looks like he’s got the bike in a headlock . . .
Is it that the bikes in those days needed more manhandling and could easily misbehave?
can’t see Doohan, #LBphotoissuesarepersistentlittlebuggersaren’tthey;)
Yeah - bikes of his era that didn’t have the computer tech you get these days had a fearsome reputation and were difficult to ride.
Does the No.2 on the bike and helmet graphics give a date to the bike. Will pics with No.1 will be the Big-Bang motors that were easier to ride (ha ha).
The early bike didnt turn and had big power. The bike he developed handled much better but his style remained the same. Doohan did things his way and got results. I think I read his style was based around not getting spat over the highside. He was quoted “using lower gears than other riders so when the rear wheel spun-up the power would tail off sooner cause the motor was closer to its peak power and the riding position had the weight where he needed it and more room for the bike to whip up before he got spit off (in that highside)”.
