thunderstorm , got soaked on my way home from blackheath tea hut …and we have got a cracker over erith at the moment
Can`t get enough of them. When a day goes by without one we just suit up and sit in the shower with our disco strobe light playing on th shower curtain. Mesmeric!!!
I used to worry about you, but I love that idea.
Sure beats worrying about the shiney manhole covers.
I love thunder storms - it’s not difficult to understand why the ancients thought that the sound of thunder was the sound of the god’s chariot wheels rumbling along in the heavens (was it Odin or Thor’s chariot?).
Always sends a shiver down my spine.
Odin, Thor was the one that threw the hammer out of his pram.
Thanks Jetstream - thought so - Odin was the chariot guy and Thor the Hammer bloke. I think i’ll just go and put some Wagner on, followed by Motorhead.
I thought it was Vulcan. I suppose it just depends on your clan.
But back to thread. I too love a decent thunderstorm. Always amuses me that the kids also love them and the wife worries. Mainly about he kids.
Just play plenty of loud Wagner and ride your bike round the garden a bit and we are sure she willl start to worry about you too
i came past the tea hut a couple of times whilst trying to find the bm meet saw a few bikes but was a bit lost and trying to find my way around
Waners a bit too Germanic for me, I’m your quieter sort of guy.
Sitting on the back step in a thunder storm with some Jean Michel Jarre playing and decent glass of malt is quite nice.
I agree Oldguy - apparently he was Hitler’s favourite composer which is a bit worrying. Thunder is the result of differently charged particles rubbing against each other (colder wavefront meeting warmer one) isn’t it?
Who, Jean Michelle Jarre? No wonder the bugger topped himself!
Sorry, I should have been clearer, I meant Wagner

Something like that.

i read somewhere it was particles/molecules/air bits ‘banging’ together after being split aside by the lightning? was riding home from BM last night watching the lightning ahead and waiting to get soaked, but somehow i managed to avoid it all!!
Was sat in my flat around holborn last night and saw the lightening, so went up to the roof, it wasnt raining in the city, but could see the lightening and that… stunning!
I used to live in the mid-west US and the electrical storms that we used to get there were amazing - I loved them, but was scared ****less of them! too be fair i was only a littl’un!
