my mate has just relocated over to Japan for work - his FJR 1300 is in a crate inbound. Got the below quote for the import charges…
current exchange rate is about 1Gbp to 200Yen. That makes the import charge roughly £2,200!!!
hope he gets a hug after…

haha, nope, he’s trying to work out if he can reduce it or just wear it
I’m thinking check that out thoroughly before paying the grand to ship it
Sounds like it would be way cheaper to get another steed once he has got there.
And we thought we got ripped off bringing stuff in here, looks like its as bad getting stuff out.

What exactly is a ‘shaken examination’? Are they going to shake the bike in a jig and see what falls off??? lol… Sounds like your friend would have been wiser to sell the bike and buy another out there.
perhaps they shake him to see how small his brain is and increase the estimate accordingly?
and definately yes. I’d have thought this, you’d have thought this, he now knows this…
Doh - that’s gotta hurt…
I assume if he doesn’t pay the charges to get it in the country, he’ll end up paying equally as much to ship it back to the UK (with some customs charges for storage in-between no doubt)
LOL LOL indeed.
Perhaps it’s his wallet that’s getting shaken !! Must be mad.
Can’t you buy all sorts of mad 400’s out there that never make it over? Is there still a power/engine size limit ?
I’m sure there is a cap on power out there if I rember correctly :S
But damn thats expensive, would have been cheaper to get something out there and put the bike in storage over here.

Yep, can you believe, they don’t sell the mighty GSXR 1000 in the sportsbike homeland?
