The procam is a small (Sony I think) bullet cam, fixed to the tank. 520 pixel camera as far as I am aware. I think the flicker comes from vibration and signal noise from the engine/CDI etc. The box is hooked up under the pillion seat.
I donāt think the picture is fantastic and Iād have expected better for the money. It has had some teething problems, like not turning off, or going blank, batteries not lasting. It is a bit hit and miss, but the people that do on board cameras at Focused Event trackdays do use the same setup.
That would be cos the rider is actually LBās resident senior trackday instructor. Iām the bloke he exits the pits behind. I just hosted it cos he does not have a clue about computers. He can ride a bike though!
The vids there look great, of course they are only compressed a little when compared to YouTube, but I would imagine the uncompressed versions to be even better, no!?
Iāve got one and agree the picture quality should be better than it is. Iāve got the Viosport camera which uses the Sony 520 lens and internals. Donāt have any problems with it starting or stopping but I use the little remote switch that comes with it. Turning it off does take a few seconds, you need to give the DV500 time to finish off the file, mine are 500MB per 20 min session and it takes a few systems for the file system to close the file.
They sell a pretty good bike power system, two DV inverters one at 12V for the camera and one at 5V for the DV500.
