ROAD RAGE Reading ranksounds post on road rage I was wondering how safe you feel in your bike gear… I personaly feel safer than normal clothes as i have a crash helmet to stop black eyes and plastic knuckles for a defensive bash.
then again if i am walking around at night in a bit of a shady area i like to keep a bunch of keys in my hand just in case.
yep sort off, although it would be a mare running in my boots, but i reckon the old textile jacket work offer a fair ammount of protection from person induced anger,
Its weird how you feel comfortable in what you have til you’ve tried something better…
I used to have textile jacket and trousers, wiwth knee and elbow pads… felt very safe
Now I have full leathers and wouldn’t ride in anyhting less than that if I’m gonna be doing more than 30 mph.
Call me soft, but I quite like my skin on me, not the road. Especially now I’ve started commuting… at night, in the rain… GOD there’s some stupid people out there… I reckon I’ve earnt a place in heaven already consdiering how many lemmings I’ve saved by paying attention when they clearly weren’t!

Kevlar inserts in gloves, fully CE armoured jacket, full length back protector, armoured trousers, Altberg boots that I can sprint in… Yes, I do feel a tad safer if someone really wanted to have an event of fisticuffs with me, considering I’m 110 kgs and nearly 2 metres tall they would need to be fairly stupid to let it go that far. The last time someone started doing the effing and waving of arms at me after trying to push through me, I got off, walked to the car - they hit central locking and wound the window up fast mouth, Sorry sorry sorry sorry all the time… Personally, I’ll walk away from 99.9999% of conflict, just not my scene, but don’t push me over that 0.0001% threshold or you will die a horrible death.
Yeah, the fact that a leather jacket gives me broad armoured shoulders makes me feel a little more confident, but then I’m a lover not a fighter
Exactly right. The kit does give you an aura of greater size and build, even if you are rather lightweight in build (not saying you are mind!) 
I take the lover route everytime as far as possible. Much more rewarding!:w00t:
yeah fairly, tho around mt area if your gonna get jacked it will probably involve a gun…wich is not good!!
i have grown up and live around rough areas…i keep my eyes open and ears alert;)
I’m thinking of wearing mine to the pub. It might stop a few of the UDI’s (unidentified drinking injuries) I’ve picked up lately after stumbling home.
Feel pretty secure in my gear…but it helps to be built like a brick sh*t house as well!

I’d say to a degree yes, I’ve always thought people who do have a go are a few sandwiches short of a picnic. :crazy:
I always feel save in my riding gear as i`m fully protected if anything happens.
the other day i was almost run over by a 6 wheeled heavy lorry near that infinity shop near holborn, i could not control my anger and challenge the drivers to stop and come down, nothing happened because they did not stop to fight an angry man in his protective clothes:) i’d say the most dangerous thing in road rage is one’s own anger, it makes you reckless and do things you shouldn’t do.
Yea, I hear ya.
I’ve reacted with anger too often in my defence, when it is better but harder to just leave it.
Unfortunately I’m not very big and not a street-fighting man, although I do feel more protected should a ‘situation’ present itself.
But that security is probably a little false TBH.
