direct bikes 125 scooter

hi all …

I got this scooter as a run around and was very cheap bought it as a non runner made it work …

been using it but its always had an cold start problem and when I get it running it needs to idle fast, though not as fast as the rear wheel turns on the stand…

if drop the idle it will run for a while (30 secs to a min) then conk out …no faltering just dies …but will run ok if I raise the idle

I replaced the auto choke module … never made any difference… I have got a variable voltage at the connection …0-7v don’t know if this is right, thought it would be around 12v… but plugged it in before putting it on the carb and it works but don’t know if its working at the right time

I haven’t got a wiring diagram, cant find anything for it … so I cant check things for earth’s and lives …

ive stripped and cleaned the carb new fuel filter new air filter and checked all hoses and connections for air leaks …all good…

I’m not too worried about it as its running, just fast … im just getting it ready for ebay as a spares or repair to get it out of the way I need the space …

anyone got any tips … apart from burn it :D…CHEERZ…AL…

Valves? Piaggio 125s, for example, are very sensitive to valve clearances being right.

hi thanks for the reply …

that’s something I didn’t check … looks like I’m getting my hands dirty today …now all I gotta do is find out what the clearances should be …AL…

you sir, are the nutz :D…

I don’t even think about valves on a bike like this …

they had no clearance so I opened them up to 13 and 18 in and out …starts on the button … sweet … now I can let it go to make more room for my rebuild …thanks…AL…

Glad you got it sorted. But a bit worried about another Direct Bike on the road! :)o

hi ya … if its any consolation im selling it for spares or repair so it may not go back on the road … they really are cheap crap … thanks for your advise spot on …AL…
