Riding along in rush hour traffic minding my own business.
Went past planetarium on A40 (what is it about the planetarium? Every time I go near that place something happens that makes me fear for my fecking life)
Pulling up to a stop behind traffic Q at low speed
Patch of diesel pops out of the BMW in front of me.
Took evasive action but was on the brakes, wheel hit diesel, low side and skid down the road on my side, head hit floor.
Bugger.
a. Leg hurts
b. took 10mm off RHS Crash bung
c. ripped brand new 90 quid gortex gloves
d. big welt in troosers
All of that is fine. Bikes fine (bar bung) I’m ok. What really p1sses me off is the feckers trying to get to work. Now I have read a few of these sorts of post on this board, but FFS.
they waited behind me at first.
The bike was on my leg and i was struggling to get it off.
They started beeeping at me.
One guy leaned out of his window and started shouting at me to “move that fecking thing you ******!”
Guy in audi tries to sqeeze past me to the right when i’m trapped under the bike nearly hitting the top of me helmet.
SOME HELP OVER HERE PLEASE??
Arses. Total utter arses. Head up thier own arses arses. ARSE!
When i got on the bike this morning, after warming up and kitting up, I rode off and had a strange feeling something was gonna happen. I was thinking to myself, what is it going to be? U turn? filtering incident?
I thunk to meself, dont be silly, just ride as you do, be vigilant etc, dont worry about it. Now I dont usually think this way when i ride off, I just had a feeling about it.
10 minutes later i’m on me side.
There are 3 schools of thought here;
Providence. Foresight.
Paranoia that I thought about too much and was distracted at the critical time.
The idea of “Magika”, where things you think about - if you think about too hard - are naturally drawn towards you, good or bad.
1 is not the way I think. Does not compute.
2 is probable, but i had put it out of my immediate consoiusness
3 is preferable, depending on your spirituality (I’m a firm believer in making your own destiny)
**** now I’m thinking to much. It was wet and it was diesel. Thats it :o
That is crap. Absolutely no consideration from people at all. I had to stop on my bike to get a man off the pedestrian crossing as he was too drunk to move from there. Cars were driving around him and nearly over him, hooting and all the rest of it. I parked up sideways to block traffic fully and then moved him to the pavement, he responded okay and did not want ambulance or police involved. Added to the fact that I was rear ended by a van last night. The roads are slippery at the moment, ride safe all! They are out to get us!
listen to your intuition! sorry to hear this… total bunch of wankers! Get some blu tac, make a doll and stick pins in it… make you feel much better. Maybe not… John’s one is better.
Thats bad news dude, and the cagers, well… just cagers, they dont help, so you are not moving underneatht he bike for a few seconds, but yet they miraculously think you can jump up and get on your way again…what if you had a broken leg!!!
Anyways, about the premonition thing, I say that stuff to myself every day!
It’s bad enough coming off without being made to feel a nuisance because you’re ‘in the way’. What would have happen if you hadn’t moved, made it look like you couldn’t move, would they have got out and helped then … :ermm:
Sorry to hear about dropping the bike. At least there’s not much damage - Could have been a lot worse!
I see this attitude from people a lot. Last week I stopped at an accident where a scooter rider had been knocked off about a minute before I got there. He was still on the road screaming in agony and yet the cars were squeezing past inches from his head - I parked my bike in the road so they couldn’t get near him.
Also, I was knocked off on the north circ. once and while I was lying on the ground next to my bike a car pulled up alongside - the driver flashed a warrant card at me and told me to move the bike out of the road, then drove off!
what utter beep beep beeps, i can’t believe that people would be so callous - makes you glad that we are bikers and would never see someone else in trouble… I am so shocked that people can be so uncaring… hope your bruises heal quickly hun
what utter assholes!! the guy in audi should be shot!
good to hear your alright, and bikes not too badly damaged.
i think we all get little thoughts when we get on our bikes, but you put them out of your head and just RIDE, you cant intervene with fate, unfortunetly!
