Decent tire shop in SE london

Hey guys,

Had my tires cut on both my bikes on Monday by a very nice gentleman and even though I tried I’can’t ride the bike anymore so I guess I need tires.
They can be second or new as cheap and good as possible as I’m in a bit of a pickle.

Does anyone know a decent shop where they also fit them which I can call on a Saturday ? - I mean decent as not a rip off

Also will where could I find a wrench that will fit my triumphs big rear nut !?!
As I’ll have no choice but to get the tires off and ask a mate with a car to take me to the shop.

Any advice much appreciated .

I live in Eltham SE9.

Thanks,
Alex

only one I know down that way is FWR

Address: 330 Kennington Rd, London SE11 4LD
Phone:020 7820 7818
its 8 miles from Eltham so about 25 mins drive
they are excellent and have some of the best prices

Yes, FWR. FWR do part worns, so call and check for size/tyre make etc… Take lose wheels and they are cheaper too.

However as you are perhaps closer to them. try AmazingBikes and see if they have part worns in your size and if Mark is there tomorrow to fit them.

Probably closest one to you is P&P (0208 856 2544) in welling way

I live in Sidcup and have a motorcycle trailer if you get stuck.

Essential rubber would be my bet

Definitely use Essential Rubber http://www.essentialrubbertyres.co.uk . You won’t get better service or prices.

I’ve read bad things about FWR, although that was years ago, and it was a major posting on http://www.thelondonbikers.com

Yes good point…Essential rubber would get my vote too as I have used them before and been happy with their service.

However, it’s a bit of a bop up the motorway (A2) if you are struggling to get there from Eltham…

If you’re desperate, there’s Watling Tyres in Catford. Fairly cheap and quick, however I was left un-impressed when I looked at the chain alignment (or lack of). Shoddy. Probably wouldn’t go there again.

Probably goto Essential Rubber - everyone on here raves aboot them, so they will be good

Buy the tyre and DIY !!

Are you sure you haven’t got recovery on your insurance?

If ever there was a time for it it’s now!

Otherwise what about mobile tyre fitting?

These guys do it but I’ve never used them…http://www.londonmpr.co.uk/

I’ve always found Watling Tyres to be quick and efficient. Handily, they are very close to me, but I’d definitely travel.

The other day I found a nail in my rear tyre which was very low on pressure. I pumped it up and went to Watling, preparing myself for an expensive trip.

What I got was a fixed tyre, off and on the bike in 15 minutes and I was able to get to where I needed to be in time. I think it was £28, which seemed fair enough to me. I’ve had new tyres from there before too and never experienced any problems.

If you make the effort to get round to Essential Rubber you’ll realise why everyone raves about them.

You get 10% discount if you mention London Bikers. I don’t usually bother because I’m Made in Chelsea.

thanks Guys,

I had a look phoned a few places and so far FWR seem to be quite fair or prices.

@IMORTAL_Indian I was thinking of doing the work myself but then again it’a a lot of hassle for minor savings. Done that for my fazer a while back which took a while.

@Triang - Ross I have breakdown but I have that 1 mile away clause , gave the mobile fitting guys an email , I guess it will save me loads of time and won’t have to call on friends for transport.

Thanks all very helpful.

Gave the police a call saying that I have the guys name address and footage of him going to the bike and returning 2 minutes later … unfortunately they said that if i don’t have footage of him actually doing the crime … they can’t take him to court :frowning:

Thanks,
Alex

universal tyres in south croydon is excellent. if you want another choice.

in reference to the gentleman, if that happened to me and thats the answer i got from the police, i’d say he better never show his face out of his house ever again

last person who tried that on here didn’t get it. not sure what the dealio is there

oh one more thing where will I find a 46mm drive or wrench or something  The rear wheel nut is massive .

FWR gets my vote, cheaper than ER.

Used FWR 2 weeks ago. They were excellent and price was best I could find

Yup, love the guys at ER but definitely worth price checking a few other places, including dealers. A set of Pirelli MT21s are had £30 cheaper through KTM than anywhere else I’ve found, for example.

Hey all,

I’ve done my AJS at FWR and now I’m commuting with that which is a thrill :)) I’ll get the Sprint sorted on Sat and then I can be done with it .

Thanks Again for all the advice , it helped me a lot

Thansks ,
Alex
