Datatool Problems

Hi,

Need some help with the Datatool System3 alarm:

I had return from holidays and the battery was flat and had to remove it and charge it.

Ever since I have done so the alarm seems to be very sensitive? and/or goes of randomly and doesnt stop. Even if I disarm and re-arm the alarm it will go off again after a few seconds.

Sometimes happens in the middle of the night !!!??

Does anyone have any idea if the removal of the battery is related or if it is a datatool problem?

All times there didnt seem to be anyone (or any animal) around …but could be wrong… that doesnt explain the subsequent triggering tho.

Thanks

It’s a quite common problem with Datatool
Try to google for nudge/movement sensor sensitivity settings, I haven’t found anything for S4, maybe you gonna have more luck.
Datatool advice is to reset sensitivity to lowest level. Probably you will have to contact their dealer.

would removing and putting the battery reset the alarms settings?

Yeah it may do but… Have you got power? Does the alarm go off about 1 min after activation? If so then its the fuse could be the 10a, or the main fuse. I had this trouble with my bandit 600 and a data s3.

See hoe you get on with that, The alarm will play up if the battery charge is low as it monitors the ampage throughout the bike, Any drop in power is seen as a threat.

Good luck

no it doesnt go off a few minutes after but rather hours later… ?
the battery was just charged and optimised so dont think a low battery charge would be the culprit.

I have the exact same problem with mine on my S4 Red, its a right pain, i’ll be laying in bed and then have to get up at 1 am or what ever to check some hooded thief isn’t in there, i solved it by going through the manual and setting the nudge sensor to the lowest setting. seems to have done the trick.

I seem to remember it setting of with the nudge tilt warning deactivated… ?

in which case check the fuses, one on the bike and the one in the rubber case. make sure the connections are not loose. other than that, im all out. get it down the dealership, use the old ā€œused datatool for years and never had this, what you going to do about itā€

Where did you find how to set sensors? Manual says it’s dealer selectable only.

sorry, meant ferry mode, it either disables the nugde mode or sets it to a low level.

Will try that… but just in case take it to the dealer on Saturday

****!! had it on ferry mode (armed without the nudge movement sensor) and it just went off for no reason!!

Grrr!!

arh cr@p, the devil lives in your electrics, see the datatool specialists, if they dont solve it, then you may want to seek out a priest for an exorcism

Does anyone know about the protective trigger switch on the system3?

I have identified that it is because of the two components have been moved and are nooe not being correctly aligned.

I am not sure how they should be placed?
