Datatool Alarm Problem

Would be grateful for some advice before I call Datatool - can’t inactivate the alarm with the fob at the moment - bike’s been standing for 3 weeks, alarmed etc, and the movement sensor is working fine… press the button on the fob, flashing lights all happening but can’t inactivate? Alarm is working fine cos I set it off to try it out… Thanks guys Q

Battery?

get a voltmeter and make sure it’s putting out 12v

did you programme a pin into your alarm? try that

hi helen, do you have a datatool system4? if so they can go into a hibernation mode after a while. what you can do is turn the ignition on, let the alarm start sounding, then press the disarm button. hope this is helpful

PM Charlie:cool:

Could be a red herring, but I’ve had an issue with my DataTool alarm a couple of times when I couldn’t disarm it in a certain location. Same thing, the alarm would go off, the lights on the fob would go, but it wouldn’t disarm. Pushed the bike down the road and it was fine. Apparently something to do with a big antenna or something. It’s probably a different issue, but worth a try before you call somebody out.

Just type in “Datatool” in the search thingy at the top and see the hundreds of problems associated with them.

IMO they are great for one thing… Landfill;)

Are you near the Eiffel tower? We had to push ours a kilometer down the Rive Gauche.

Julie had a broken metatarsal sustained at the hands of a surf bourne rock on the Isle de Oleron, that bridge can be a nightmare around 5pm in the summer, luckily we were delayed and got a clear run at around 7.30pm.

Due to this paltry injury she couldn`t push the bike fast enough and became the victim of abuse from myself and several drunken pederasts

(But it was 30 degrees, wearing leathers, carrying a heavy rucksack how did you expect the poor girl to push fast)

Anyway it took ages to get behind a big enough building to stop the radiowaves from the ET to stop interfering with the Datatool. And even longer to persuade the pederasts that Julie was not my daughter:D

Sorry not much help if you are not beside the Eiffel Tower right now.

Oh the Île d’Oléron , lovely place:cool:

Did you go to Fort Boyard while you were there?

No, too commercial for us, we contented ourselves with an ice cream and a beach ashtray:D

hi mine does this when left,i put the ignition on which sets the alarm off ,then the fob seems to work ok after that, duno why ?

Thanks for advice - it normally never does it at home but i will try a couple of your suggestions… fingers crossed  Qx

Mine goes into deep sleep when not used for some time. You have to shock it out of sleep by turning ignition on, alarm goes off & then you can use the key fob.

It also drains the battery when not used for some time, but has its own little battery back up supply. The little DATATOOL manual has trouble shooting section.

Also mine doesn’t work near the crystal palace transmitter, have to push the bike out of range of transmitter, it’s flippin hard work trying to push a litter bike with the alarm blaring out of range of that transmitter

Charlie says, try disarm with PIN first (if you set one) and or push a hundred yards down the road and away from tube/train powerlines and petrol stations.

Set up a PIN people, save yourself a massive pain in the arse!

It hasn’t got a pin as far as I know, I just inherited the damn thing… no power lines or anything nearby and usually works fine… i’ll try and ‘shock’ it tomoro Q

My sympathies, Q, not that they’ll help - if you get really stuck, try calling Bazil or Bruce at Safe’n Sound for their take on it - 0771 8737101/2

Thanks for the advice - ‘shocking’ it worked  was out and remembering what a great bike it is on Sunday morning… wicked! Q

if you need the technical manual let me know, someone on LB or TLB e-mailed it, it’s the service manual, the one that teaches you how to set the pin, enter options mode where you can adjusts sensitivity, alarm tones (yes it helps to have a different alarm sound than the 1000’s of bikes that have it on default), angle… etc etc

PM me your e-mail if you want it.
