any diffs between the two and if so which is best to go for
easy enough to do DIY, or should i get an installer for this?
I don’t think there’s much difference between the two.
I’ve put the Datatags on my last two bikes and it’s not difficult at all. You get full instructions with the Datatag kits which are pretty good. You should be able to do them in an hour or so!
Alphadot is a tube of micro dots in some sort of glue, you apply it to bits & plod can then use a magnifying glass to track the true owner.
Datatag has the same microdots as the Alphadot system, but also a number of RFID tags that you stick in seats, tank, frame & wheels etc. that can be detected using an RFID scanner. It also has a number of stencils & fluids that you use to etch items like panels, mirrors etc with your unique datatag code.
Alphadot is around £25-30, Datatag £60 personally I think the Datatag is worth the extra.
If you’re capable enough to be allowed out on your own, then you’ll find that both are a doddle to install.
