Data tool snitcher???

Has anyone got or know anyone who has got one of these on there bikes?? or knows about them??? all the web sites say the same spiel that the datatool website says. Is there a subscription??? are they effective??? i mean all you wanna know is some Mo Fo is fooking with your machine so as an early warning system it has to be worth it right??? if your out of ear shot of the alarm you still know and can take back the appropiate action, ie run to your bike and start swinging your lid round in a helicopter motion at some little or big ****s head…if some one was at my bike id prefer to know i did all i could to stop them.

if your not sure what i mean see the link

Just been reading about them. Seems a good idea (and there are several other companies doing the same SMS alert thing) purely on an alert level.

Of course, think of all the times that you are too far from your bike to much about it personally except call for help. And I wonder about false alarms.

Got cool things like battery low alert mind.

Don’t rely on it as a tracker type thing tho as it doesn’t appear to be very accurate.

But as Jay says, we are investigating this sort of thing at the mo. Unless you’re in a hurry, you might wait a wee bit.

I have a datatool snitcher. Basically, as a tracker its next to useless IMO (and yes theres a subscription fee, around £30 per year I think). However the text alert can be useful, eg. for when the bikes in the garage and you know no one is gonna nudge it so you can have the snitcher on sensitive and know for sure somethings up when you get an alert, and know everything is fine when you dont! Prob is outside you may get a lot of false alarms as you can only choose from senitivity high or sensitivity low, nothing in between. Guess in that case its effectiveness depends on where you park and how easy it is for you to check your bike when you get a text etc. Its def better than having no alert at all, but there may be better ones available, i dont know. If you want any more info. let me know.

Thanks i really dont leave myself to far from my bike and when i get my new one next month i really wont be far at all from it, so i only want it as a warning as pagers only work from a 1000 meters or so, but thanks for the info i think is still worth considering
