Cyclists/ Lorry Drivers in London Beware!.

Got this from another forum date 28/10/2008, comes from a Met Traffic Officer.

  • Cyclists/ Lorry Drivers in London Beware!.
The Traffic Dept are having a 3 week campaign targeting cyclists and lorry drivers.

The focus is on cyclists riding through red lights, without lights and on the footway. Lorries with defective mirrors etc will be stopped.

There will be a period of ‘education’ where offenders will be given leaflets showing the dangers of their actions and this will be followed by a period of enforcement where tickets will be issued.

Motorcycles be aware that you may be spoken to should you ride in a cycle lane or stop in the designated cycle box at the front of the lights.

You have been warned.*

very rarely use that advance box, but will certainly be on the look out for hiviz jackets loitering ahead

Good to see something happening.

they did run a campaign before to catch cyclists red light jumping, think it was inside out or the one show I saw it.

They showed a few cyclists getting a telling off and a leaflet barrage, then just up the road the journalist stopped them and asked if it’d stop them doing it again.

Funnily enough, they all said “no”, so will it work?

Like my sign in name on another (American) site.
