I was thinking about becomming a special constable…i know i would’nt get paid for it but i just thought it would be a good idea as i get 3 days off work and just sit around the house scratching my arse…
im thinking if i do it long enough and if i like it,i could then think of it as a career…plus…its hard enough to get into the force these days so it would be a good foothold.
i just remember RR saying how many guys have left as the police want for them,so instead of wasting anyones time…i could have a gander and see what i think?
what do you think?..shall i dip me toe in…?..could you do it?
One of my mates has just become a special and he loves it:D Go on Shane do it or you’ll only regret it later in life…plus you get a nice shiny badge in a wallet;)
My 19yr old son is just doing his training for this - he has his attestation next thursday and is then on the beat as such. He 's really loving it - and I am contemplating it myself. Go for it - if you dont like it you can always drop out but at least you will know!
always worth a go it’s a good way to learn exactly what the job is like without getting too much of teh stress and hassle that goes with it.
It’s not really a question of could you do it, it’s do you think you’re teh right person for it and is it what you want to do. If it is then you’ll get out what you put in and it can be a really enjoyable way to spend your time and make a lot of good friends.
in any case give it a try, you’ll be looked after and if you don’t like it you would only have lost a few weekends
I was thinking about it too.
I think you get a lot out of it, and you never know, you might end up being a full-time copper. Also you never know what skills you learn/improve which might come useful or save your life in a situation in the future.
I was having a lengthy chat over a few sherberts at New Years with two very helpfull officers at a party - they pretty much sold me on it ( plus the fact that I had just been made redundant !! ) - Only problem I had was I couldn’t afford to stay outta work until I went through the selection process and no-body would have taken me on on a short term contract
Would stress that this is the " normal " force rather than becoming a " special " but hey - it’s the same job and , if you do like it you can always make it a career ( especially after what we were talking about on Weds
The chap and lady I was chatting too reckoned that they prefer the " older " candidate anyway at the moment as we " apparently " have more life experience so are able to " empathise " with people and their issues far more effectively
Crack on chap - you’ll only regret it if you don’t
Or should that be the shiny new helmet…If it’s something your’ve paid real thought to, go for it. However, on the flip side, you’ve got a family to consider now.
not likely, i sold him the things…they do come n handy sometimes…i was thinking about becoming a pcso but (good) friends beat that thought out of my head…got all the paperwork and everthing but then saw some kids just taking the rib out of a couple at the end of my road…they reckon you cant just grab the little scrotes and smash them to a pulp anymore…
lol, maybe there will be less sh1t on the streets if you were 1 m8, nothing worse than talking to a cop/pretend cop thats looks like he has just left school or should go to the gym for a spell.
become a community warden m8, they get paid 30k for doing feck all and only walking about the streets during the day when the kids are at school, sswweeeett, and when ya do phone em they tell ya to cal the police, wtf!
Well I’m sure we’ve all had a few run-ins with the bill over the years, and like every other profession there’s good and bad (I can’t believe I just wrote that).
However, each and every time I have been spoken to by the “support officers” I found them somewhat wanting on the communication front. They were rude, patronising and aggressive in their demeanor and to be honest, I would rather deal with the real thing from now on. If I really have to. I hope that they train the specials to treat people with a little more respect.
do you mean community support officers? specials are something completely different. PCSO’s are civvies used to provide a visable presence, where as Specials are sworn officers.
