It allows you to track and log your journeys then output the data in a useful format. I put it on the Rider this morning and tracked us in the car all day - got home - opened the file in google earth and it created a route from all the logs… which is so cool in a very geeky way.
It also works as quite an advanced trip computer, giving you altitude, direction etc… more applications here
Most impressed… am now working on how to pull that data and display on a google map online for our trip to Russia so that you can see where we are at a given time - Dakar style
Matt, if you think that is geeky, yesterday I connected the laptop to the power commander on my bike (I didnt fit the PC, it was on the bike when i got it). The idea was to get a backup of the current map as I have had fueling problems recently, but the more I think about it just wanted to stand next to the bike with it connected to the laptop so I looked like I knew what i was doing!
The police use a software programme in a similer way to track where you have been/what speeds you were doing if they nick you/impound your bike (so remember to take it off if you’re pulled)
They do this to prove you were/wern’t at a particular accident/crime scene that day! Big Brother is everywhere!
