whata a fookin isore. Can you imagine how ugly that beast would look. Some young designer will have got paid a shed load for that monstosity. :w00t:

That`s looks frightfully stupid.

It’s ok- it’ll never get built.

Can you imagine Osama bin Laden and his buddies wringing their evil little hands in glee at the thought of someone building that?! Might as well just paint a target on it for good measure.

Even if it did- it’s just not going to work as a ‘British’ way of living?! Who’d want to commute up their building every day as well as through London?

don’t tell me you helped design that steve??

lol, i thought that would stir some reactions :slight_smile:

No way did i have any part in it!
the designs crap, and the visuals are even crappier

It takes yrs for these things to go through dozens of stages, if it even makes it to the construction phase, its usually nothing like the conceptual visuals.

There is allot of skyscrapers in planning and development for london though, they have to go up, theres no space anywhere else!

Has anyone seen the walkie talkie building that IS getting built…

‘walkie talkie’ building

The glass shard so far, is in development to be constructed

dont think that looks too bad

build it…we need some change in london not the same old…

Hope it falls down in the wind taking as much with it as it can - it would give us a chance to redevelop a bigger area instead of building up on a small footprint.

Osama or not - just a matter of time before someone flies into it or drives a car bomb through reception.

I think we have enough icons in this city - its not like anyone hasnt heard of London now is it!

this is one i did…

well it was a sketch by my boss at the time, and i had to visualise it and make it look like something, so he could do the rounds and try and get someone to pay to build it.

obviously having problems! :w00t::w00t:

I laughed when we got the original feasibility report through from the QS, approx £100million

It dont work like that unfortunately.

Its some tosser at the top, does some little doodly sketches, then the rest of the team have to realise it, and make it work, whilst the boss gets the credit.

thats life huh?

Ha, ha! It looks to me as though the architect got to his presentation meeting, realised the drawings he’d brought in a cardboard tube had fallen out on the way so had to improvise. :w00t:

As far as I know the Shard was going ahead but was recently called in again…

The building group in my office is working on the Shard, I actually quite like it although I’m not entirely sure about it’s location.

I knew it was having some updates with funding but thought it was going ahead anyway.

I think the date of the article - Thursday 03 Apr 2008 - was out by a couple of days…:smiley: As for the other proposals mentioned - London has constantly evolved and St Paul’s Cathedral had massive protests about it’s eyesore potential and dwarfing the city and all the same stuff that we now hear used in it’s defence as a means of protesting against new developments that will dwarf it… I was up the top of St Paul’s Dome again recently and I love the view and the layout of London, with so many buildings that have been thrown together down the generations as the architecture has reflected the needs and fashions of the time… admittedly there are many mistakes but so long as we can replace them as we go and keep hold of the good 'uns then IMHO we will keep one of the best capitals there is…

Evolve…Embrace…Enjoy…

fliping heck, and thats from a welsh/irish boy
:w00t:

:D:D:D
Tell me about it, but it’s not bad in that there Llundinium…:wink:

i love London (hence the reason i came back)

just some of the people i dont like
:w00t::w00t::w00t:
