My little bike needs cleaning… badly.
I don’t have a garden so I don’t have a hose with water and washing it down while running up and down the stairs with a lil bucket of water is simply not good enough.
Petrol stations have high pressure water which as far as I have heard very unhealthy for a bike.
Do you guys know where I can get my hands on a normal non-high pressure water?
High water pressure is fine, just tell them not to aim it directly at the wheel bearings or the chain. The fairings and rest of the machine can handle it.
Noooooo you want to embed all that dirt and drit into everything?
Just get another bucket one with soapy water the other with clean. I make one trip up the stairs and thats to put it all back
I think I need a bigger bucket than
One of those porto washing things from Halfords is useful. It uses compressed air to create a portable hose and there is a strap to put it on your back. Then you can carry the bucket and only do 1 trip.
Also useful for Ghostbuster impressions.
How often do you clean your bike? If it’s once in a blue moon, then maybe think about getting it done by a specialist cleaning company. Mo-clean in Coulsdon charge from £35 which ain’t cheap, but they’re apparently very good.
bout once every two weeks. depends on the weather tbh. after riding in this rain today and getting splashed all over by oncomming cars i’m afraid to think what my lil bike will look like tomorrow ;(
I’m glad I’m not the only one doing my cleaning that often! ![]()
I do it with the bucket and all on the street, but am wondering whether the water dispenser that petrol stations have with the air-vending machine would work? not the most powerful hose I know… A bottle of spray would help with the lathering. e.g. Muc-Off or something?
Mine gets washed weekly and I only ride it twice maybe three times a week:w00t:

thanks… I live in an attached with no hose in the front garden. I have a long hose in back garden that i put through kitchen window, through the house then out the front so I can wash bike/car. Really hate sloshing buckets in and out the house and believe rinsing to be the most NB part of washing. This thingy mabob from Halfords looks like a great idea… and I won’t have to strap the vacuum cleaner to my back when I want to play Ghostbusters.http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_241043_langId_-1_categoryId_165486
