can anyone tell me how or where to get my CBR125R tuned to get more mph out of my misteress?
how much would getting it de-restricted and how would i go about de-restricting myself it (is it the same as de-restricting a scooter, removing the variator spacor and replacing the stock exhaust with a new racing exhaust for instance??)
a bloke at a place i used to work got me to see if i could make his cbr125 go faster i did 2 things first remove the carb take out the spacer and refit 2nd take exhaust of used a drill and drilled out the down pipe as it had a restricting pipe inside , took 2 drills and about an hour but made it a lot faster. before i did that it did 75 top end after 105 top end clock reading …total cost was £5 for 2 drills and an hours time:)
An easy and free way for single cylinder engine manufacturers to reduce power, some noise and increase M.P.G. is to restrict the inlet and exhaust tracts.
The XT660 motor, for instance has a smaller restrictor step built into the cylinder head than the header pipe diameter.
I’d take that out on my Aprilia (same motor) but I can’t be arsed with getting the injection re mapped as I’d need to get a Power Commander and I can’t afford one.
Anyway, the stock tyres can’t handle 60 bhp let alone 70.
ill have to look into those mods! the bike isnt made for any serious speed though…but mine is stock and ive taken mine to well over 90 [on private roads] [edit…it was indicated clock speed so might be a little bit less]
those mods sound cool but honda engines r made to last and i wudnt wana tamper with mine as its never let me down so far!
for the original msg…best bet is to either do the mods stated above or just save your money for a better bike! unless ur gona keep it for long its not worth putting in exhausts etc

nice 1 mate…could you do it for me for a score please…if so where abouts are you? And as for savin up for the bigger bike…i would…if i wernt a learner lol
Sorry but i call bull on getting 105 out of a CBR125. A fully de-restricted NSR125 two stroke wouldn’t do 105 and i’m talking about one with a full race system, de-restricted carbs, a set of clocks without the restrictors in and various other mods.
There is no way you got 105mph out of a cbr125 simply by drilling out the exhaust and removing a carb spacer.
The only way that bike would hit a ton is if you dropped it off a cliff!
Like has already been suggested. Save your money and buy a bike with more cc.
Aye… used to have to spend a lot of time and money on the old RD125LC to get a ton out of it, and they were eminently tuneable.
105 on the clock of a 125 is probably closer to 90 mph - my ZX9 will hit 190 on the clock, but in reality it’s around 170-175.
