Has anybody got any experience with Chasbikes in SE1? I went there for a new tyre and they seemed good, cheap on labour, but I want a full service now and I’m wondering how good they’ll be for that.
I did a quick search, a couple of comments going back to 2008 but nothing much specific.
They have moved into the the Supreme Motorcycles premises which have been vacant for nearly two years.
All we need is for another workshop to go into the Frontier Motorcycles premises in Wimbledon Chase I go past frequently that has been vacant for about 7 years!
I’ve been going for years now for my servicing and MOT’s and I’ve never had a problem, service can seem a bit brusque but mainly because they always seem to be very busy (which I guess is a good sign!)
They’ve done my MOTs, a puncture repair and a couple of minor bits. The ‘workshop’ is the messiest, tattiest you’ve ever seen, but the staff are helpful and fair. Most of their trade appears to come from the dispatch riders which would suggest they are reasonable and can be trusted.
Never ever again. It was recommended to me by a friend who just get the forks oil seals replaced in there as “fast and reasonably priced service”. Get my bike in on friday morning and ask man bihind the counter to replace oil seals on the forks and run it through the MOT. I had a spare set of used forks under the seat so i explain them that they can use them if there is any problem with the one on the bike. I hav been told that everything will be done by the end of the day and will be contacted if there is any problem. No one call me so i call them just before 17:00 only to find out that it`s failed the MOT due to excessively worn front brake disc and they trying to replace it but unfortunately it will not be ready tonight. Was promissed to get all sorted by midday on saturday. Get a phone call on Saturday at around 13:00 and told that replacement disc from EBC they tried to fit is not fitting my bike and that they can order new one but it will be not in untill next wednesday. So i told them to get my bike together. Came to the shop, paid 95£ for failed MOT and the forks and told them that i will try to find the disc myself and will let them know. collect the bike just to find that the oil is still leaking. Ordered the disc and come on tuesday to let them know just to find out that they ordered it too and they never change the oil seals only replace some parts of the forks from the spare one and add some oil. Was promissed to get evrything done with a disc. When i come on Thursday to see if my disc (36£) was delivered has been told it is not but their disc (104£) is here. When i told them i will wait for my disc they told me they had enough and throw me out of the shop. By the way my disc was delivered to the shop at 10:00 that day. Be advised.
had tyres done there on 2 bikes and an mot - nice friendly biker guys with no issues - even ran my bike in for me as I didn’t fancy the ramp on the Pan. They are usually busy, tyres were fitted to both bikes over 2 visits, very reasonable. I am sure like anywhere there will be odd issues but nice guys. Passed my gixxer with a loudish exhaust as he said its not an issue for them as it does not affect the safety of the bike going back in a couple of weeks for next MOT. Never had a service done there as I have a suzuki dealer near my work so it goes in there. Honda is near my home so Pan goes there. Tyres were a good price and in stock - which can be a bit of a bugger for the front on an ST1100 Hope that balances things and I didn’'t just join :P;)
Well I think they’re brilliant as they’re open on Sundays, very few bike garages are, and they got me out of a major problem when they fixed a puncture when I was setting off on holiday to the Lakes quite a few Sundays ago. It was an enjoyable and very welcome little stop-off at the beginning of our journey.
Avoid like the plague.
They wrecked my engine by installing the inlet cam incorrectly, then accused me of doing it myself.
Incredibly rude and arrogant, the way i was treated by chas was nothing short of disgusting.
When things go well like simple tyre changes im sure its fine, but when things go wrong they wont do a damn thing to help you.
Got completely spanked by these guys - called about a service, was told 250 worst case, got a call saying the bike was ready and that the cost was 375!!! When I complained they dropped it to 310 and said otherwise they will keep my bike… nothing extra was done that wasn’t discussed on the phone. Guy was also beyond rude when I explained that I had already been told the price.
Use them, at your own peril… Just buy a Haynes Manual and camp out at OMC, that’s what i’ll be doing from now on.
Replaced 3 headlight bulbs not noticing the holder was corroded & fucked, went 200yards to FWR , they spotted it immediately ,been usig FWR since for 3 years now… no complaints…
