CBR1100xx SuperBlackbird VS 2000 GSXR1300 Hayabusa - Advise pls

Hi guys,

I’ve been riding my '99 R1 for around a year and a half now. I am very happy with the general look and performance of the bike however find it a complete mission to travel more than 50 miles on it. For long journey’s its a basstid. Last time I did a 70 mile round trip and I needed several massages. I would seriously like to consider trading the R1 in for a sports tourer as I plan to use my bike more + ride to work daily instead of the odd day hence the reason of the change.

The plan is to visit a few dealers and try both bikes and see which is more comfortable however are there any things to look out on either of these bikes and which one would you choose over the other and why?

Thanks alot for you input.

Bests,

Sunny.

Busa all the way for me but then I have never liked Honda’s - the Bird just seems a little " long in the tooth " for me

And , knowing your love of the 'strip the Busa probably hold more " potential " in the long run

Of the two I’d probably go for the ZZR14:D

worth considering the Triumph Sprint ST or Honda VFR ?

Me too but didn’t know if it was an option due to funds :Whistling:

Think he wants something from THIS century :Whistling:

on the ball as usual…knob lmao

I like the busa dont know what it like on long journeys though the riding position looks sportier than the 'bird, but I did see someone at the ace who had put risers on bars said best mod ever and transformed the bike.

Have ridden and used both - and both are great long distance, so all i can say is:

  • suzuki parts are generally easier and cheaper to get, plus the clutches last better and work better

  • the honda engine will do 100,000 miles without a glitch, unless youre very very unlucky

Aside from that, you just need to ride them both. I found I noticed the speed less on the blackbird. I like both very much

Hi guys,

thanks for everyones input.

I think I am still thinking on the same lines of milleman.

I am not big into Triumphs or VFR’s. Also I heard that in summer the VFR’s are a pain to ride in slow traffic due to where the radiators are…too much heat going straight towards your legs. So far the Busa is the favorite. I would love a ZZR1400 however it’s a little out of my price range + I’ve heard it isnt as nimble as the Busa?

Thanks,

Sunny.

Sunny - the Busa is a " cult " bike dude - I can see the stretched swing arm + bling rims already

Thanks for that update <A class=SmlBoldLinks id=_ctl1_ctlTopic_ctlPanelBar_ctlTopicsRepeater__ctl19_smAuthorName href=“http://londonbikers.com/forums/void(’’);” onmouseout=“window.status=’’;return true;” onmouseover=“window.status = window.location;return true;”>powerpuffgirl. How tall are you if you dont mind me asking?

Milliman - Your right but I am not sure the bling wheels is my cup of tea or the extended swing arm as I want the handling as much as the straight line speed.

GSXR1300 Hayabusa:D are the best bike ever and quickest:cool: and great for pillions too:D

Not sure abou how well they stand up to the elements but even as a confirmed honda freak the busa would be my choice based on performance.

If the 14 is out of your budget my choice would be the Busa as the Bird seems to look tatty quite quickly IMO.

Busa engine is very impressive, check for it jumping out of 2nd gear under power, if an earlier bike pre-2001 I think then make sure it has an oil fed cam chain tensioner. Incredible engines, I know of several in cars that had done 5k or 10k miles in the bike then another 40k in a car doing mainly track days being driven hard, still going strong. Mine is now making over 300bhp and is pure engine porn :stuck_out_tongue:

Well what are you waiting for, get it back into its rightful place… a busa frame;)

How about a ZX12,had one for 6 years,lovely machine,sounds good,looks good(imho) and handles well for a large lump:D

Hi Broady, my neighbour had a ZX12, against the Blackbird and particulary the Busa they don’t look as good or perform aswell so I decided to knock it.

Hi Sunny, you know my preference & from past chats I can see you on a Busa

Zx12 then 14 then Blackbird in that order but only if I was desperate

Hey Grim long time no speak fella. Hope all is well.

It looks like the Busa is ontop of the list now however I am still going to test-ride everything. Can’t find any 2nd hand Busa’s at any local dealers anywhere though. :frowning:
