Cbr 600 f3 spark plug change?????

Hi all …does anyone know how to get to those elusive spark plugs ??? the haynes manual says from the side …are they mad??? had the tank off thought of going from the top it seems breaking into fort knox could be easier…D

i think it is possible from the side after removing the side covers but it’s fiddly as fcuk, from the top you need to remove the airbox & coils…

Oh god this is fiddly as fuuck.

You have to take the tank off, air box off, coils off, all the other stuff off so you can see clearly the top of the cylinder head.

You then need to get a spark plug socket down into the plug whole, with the right combination of extensions and a universal joint.

Good luck!

Sounds like a right ball ache. You could take it to OMC. They can probably show you some wizardry or sorcery.

Yeah - good advice above - don’t have a CBR F3 but have had similar pain in the arse access situations - just allow yourself a lot of time so you don’t get frustrated and damage something, and make a note of what you are dismantling and how it goes back together - as mentioned - purchasing a mini-ratchet and extension bar can be handy in these situations.

Well thanx for all the advice peeps…maybe ill take it into the shop, when i take things apart i always have stuff left over…which cant be right.:doze:

Try a gsr or bking. Utter madness to get to and millions of bits to remove too

The CBR,s are the worst 600 and 900 and especialy the 929 even once you have the tank off the air box off all the other bits … then the fecking frame is in the way and you can’t take that off and even if you manage that and get a socket extension past the frame and undo the plug you still can’t get the fecking plug out the hole cos of the frame . End up rotating the engine down on its rear mounts to do the job …proper fuckery for a plug change .

Holy f*ck - that is sh1t.

I’ve just bought a CBR6 F - the first fuel injected one.

It’s not as compact as the later ones so hopefully I won’t have to deal with that level of shite when I come to change the plugs. :ermm:

If you do tackle it yourself, make sure you remember to remove the little nipples you get on the top of each plug.

When I did my plugs on my ninja, I fiddles around for aaaages getting the old plugs out and the new ones in… Went to put the plug caps back on, and realised I’d forgotten to take the nipples off. IDIOT.

Reminds me of my apprenticeship days

Servicing a '64 V8 Rolls Royce, to replace the spark plugsjack up the frontplace on axle standsremove front wheelsremove inner wheel archersremove engine coversremove plugs with plug socket x2 extensions coupled by a universal joint
Until I got to the plugs I thought it was an apprentice wind up.

Nice one m8 will do that…
