Catwalk models . .

I’ve just been reading in todays Metro that it’s London fashion week and apparently there’s been some protests about the ‘stick thin’ models that are employed by the various designers.

So girls and boys, lemmie ask you this . . .Why?

Why do fashion designers think that their clothes look better hanging off of these emaciated females?

I know that we’re all physically attracted by different things but personally I think a women with ‘curves’ is so much more attractive.

Does anybody think that the super thin physique is ‘sexy’?

No…thin women are not sexy at all, well that’s just my opinion.

Everyone has a little fat on them and so why advertise your clothes designs on sticks?..oh hold on…that’s food for thought !!

It’s not right is it? Everyday women have curves. The designers should to keep this in mind. Of course they want their show to be impressive and create a ‘i could look like that’ feeling amongst the target audience, but come on, promoting such unhealthy sizes is irresponsible. These companies have a responsibility to play in modern society when advertising influences peoples minds so much. I hate capitalism at times, certain the way the west has forced it down our throats.

I guess that raises another question there Jay . . . Do women actually want to look like that?

Not only do I not like the look of it but it would be extremely dangerous to rub bones with someone of the same build as me

As to the question do they want to look like it - probably no - but they follow the herd - they have been brainwashed by the media

Its pretty simple actually…

Most…not all, but most male designers are gay…and they’re just not interested in curves like you or I…they’re interested in young men who are tall, thin and curveless…

To clarify that…most of the most famous/popular designers are gay men…so their styles and views tend to lead industry’s opinion paths.

Was gonna raise some of the more interesting arguments for this from my Sociology degree but then I realised I’d just get shouted at by lots of feminists who didn’t understand me without reading my thesis, nor the men on here who didn’t agree with me…so I haven’t

I can honestly say I do not aspire to look like these models. Yep, I should lose some weight (especially whilst riding an R6!) but I wouldn’t want to be too skinny. A nice curvy 14/16 would be good for me.

I can’t think of anybody famous who is that size. If I do, I’ll put a pic ip.

not saying i like the look of the size 0’s myself. however

for the big houses, fashion week/catwork is couture. its not supposed to be everyday, its supposed to be the showcase of the designer.

aside from being thin, most catwalk models are often at least 6 foot tall and reasonably androgenous, good luck if you’re trying to look like that if you’re a girl. if the girl is shorter, they have to be proportionately thinner. not easy

you’re not supposed to be looking at the girl, you’re supposed to be looking at the clothes. if they were seriously sexy, who’d give a monkeys what they were wearing

if that’s what you’re after, look for underwear models…

having said all that, from the shows i’ve been too, the models used for the more highstreet brands like topshop weren’t exceptionally thin.

Kate Winslet and Sophie Dahl! That’s about all I can come up with

Na! You’re all wrong!

It’s purely economy - skinny broads don’t need so much material to cover them up!

I don’t reckon designers being gay has got much to do with it, coz there’s staright male and female designers and they like sticks too.

Plus theuir stuff wouldnt look good on anyone bigger, coz we’re lumpy and bumpy, distorts the clothes. Its all a load of cow poo anyway, who’d want to wear the stuff they come out with. I much prefer my unfashionable leathers!

Was just going to mention Marilyn herself, a size 16 if i recall correctly! Also has anyone ever met Jerry Hall, shes HUGE! Yes slim, but shes im proportion to her height and a good size 16. SHE never had any problems with her modelling career, albeit not always as a catwalk model.

I myself am a petite size 10, although im still curvy, big hipped and a generous handful . My doctor recently told me in fact that im medically perfect . I dont diet, hell I eat most guys under the table! Ask Morgawr, when out eating, I ALWAYS eat more than him, and usually to be found eyeing up his plate asking, are you finished with that! What im saying here, is that not all skinny/slim models are unnaturally so, some of them are naturally slim, and not forced to smoke to kerb an appetite or forced to be anorexic. My friends daughter is extremely skinny and tall and did look at going into the modelling business as shes also very very pretty, but i also know for a fact that shes very healthy and well.

Yes, some of them do look ill thou, I agree, and theres a very fine line between being very slim and healthy, and very slim and looking emaciated.

I prefer a women to be herself, and yes i mean with a little meat on her bones.

Marylyn - of course. Now she had a sexy body and I’ll happily aspire to that

that marylin… she aint nowt special, hehe, noi really i dont like to see these sticki insects walking along the catwalk, they just look ill!.

And just how much do you weigh??

the catwalk models you see nowadays are too frickin thin!!!

now gimme a few of them Victoria’s Secret models and im all over that!!! lol

my girlfriends really skinny, but im always trying to feed her more than she can take, i want her to be fat. but she’s genetically thin.

oh well, maybe after pregnancy.

I saw that documentry - Feeders!

183cm, 63 kgs, B-C cup. Is that unpractically thin?
