Canon EOS-1D Mark III, 10 mp, 10 fps

Well hey, the amateurs on here need a bit of an advantage…we’ll give you a 24 hour head start to make it to the production line in Japan!

LOL

I´m told that it should be two weeks(ish) before delivery. Just in time for World Superbikes me hopes!

Didn’t that already kick off this weekend?

Sorry to hijack this thread… but whilst you are talking about cameras anyway, Id like your opinion on the Canon EOS 400D, as its caught my eye!

Im a complete novice and although I can take good pics I’m very aware that im limited with the little point and shoot I use now. Id like to buy a camera that i can change lenses, and learn about apeture and exposure and all the other words i dont understand I also dont want to end up with a camera that given a few years down the line after picking up a few tricks, will become basic and im back to looking at a newer camera again.

ITs a reasonable SLR for novice turning amateur enthusiast, but you’ve got to remember that these days ALL camera companies are innovating so much that it doesn’t matter what you buy, in a couple of years, EVERY model is out of date…either cos the technology has changed or the popular system has moved on and the piece of kit you have now can’t process enough information…

Honestly, the 400 will be a good starting point. Don’t expect pro level sharpness or response to fast moving action shots for example, but it’ll definitely work as a good beginning point if you want to move away from point and click, but realistically speaking it WILL be old school in a couple of years. Doesn’t mean it’ll be obsolete…it’ll definitely still work…

I started with the Canon D60 - 6 Mega-pixel chip (Big deal at the time as it was the first semi-pro Digital SLR from Canon). Its about 4 years old now…there are point and clicks today with 8 Mega-pixel chips. But the D60 still works. Again my old clunker isn’t obsolete, but compared to the 400D with an 8 Mega-pixel chip…my camera could be called obsolete…

Time will always pass your technology by eventually…

Not in this country; Donington Park, 1st April

I have the 300D and it is fine, most of the time its not the equipment but the the user unless your using to put a roof over you head the 400D will be fine.

I have taken some good shots on my wife’s 2 meg Canon Ixus
