Only thing is, I can only assume that Italian legs are much slimmer than mine…!
If I wear my leathers outside the boots, they do up fine. With my leathers tucked in, however (which is the way I prefer them) the velcro fasteners only just meet, which I’m not particularly happy with!
Can anyone recommend a boot with all the above attributes, that have a wide enough top to be able to tuck your leather jeans in AND fasten the boot correctly and fully?
Crispy mate it all depends on what leathers you have. Alpinestars and Dainese for example deliberately make some of their boots wider at the top beacause of the armour being thicker than most. Gore-tex models range from £140-£180 for the boots I stock
At the top end of the market you have Daytona boots, the amount of adjustment that you get is silly…but VERY handy for the chap with big calfs, these range from £180 to £380…not cheap…but they are the best. Hope this helps
Yes, I definitely recommend boots. Any will do really. Bare feet are a no no.
Oh, I geddit.
Maybe look for the ones with a rachet type fastening down the shin as they appear to offer much more adjustment range than zips etc. My Gaerne sporty numbers are great for that as they can be tightned up or loosened off if trousers are in or out.
Otherwise I guess you’re gonna be trying on lots of pairs!
I’ve got Alpinestars S-MX3 Goretex boots and IMO are really good, as I wear my leathers inside in the boot the velcro is elasticated in some way and fits nicely to ensure a tight fit around the leg. Some more expensive ones might be better but at £180 you can’t go wrong!
I found that boots like helmets, certain boots suit a certain foot. I tried first tried Sidi but either found them to tight across the width or too long in the toe. Ended up with a an Alpinestars Effex boot. Sole wore out very quickly and the Gore-Tex liner didn’t last much past the warranty.
Best thing to do is find a good shop with a wide selection and try a load on.
