Right, last saturday morning a lovely member brought in chilli con carne, in a sealed container, rice to heat up (which i wont be attacking)
so, 6 days on, in the fridge the whole time, can i still heat it up and eat it??
My vote says YES…

If it’s a veggie one yes - if it’s meat probably not.
Dear The Jets,
please clarify the probably…Im starving hungry, the misses aint been shopping yet!
im a student and live off old things from the fridge, it’ll be fine, just nuke it to hell
awesome.
got reasonable iron guts! Love the name by the way. reminds me of my crazy heading Nan, whos name is Joyce! :hehe:
Just eat it!!! BUT make sure you got Drainex to unblock the loo the following morning!:w00t:
OK Depending on how long it had been cooked before you got it, what temperature it had been at on the journey, the temperature in your fridge (why oh why did you not freeze it if you were going to keep it this long??) will depend on how many bacteria have bred in it since it was cooked. The chances of having a bad tummy (to put it nicely) increase with bacteria and time. As the person above says, if you DO insist on eating it make sure it is bubbling hot before you eat it - maybe heating it through thorougly in a pan and stirring often would be better than nuking it - you can keep stirring to make sure every bit is boiling hot. Up to you - and please, we don’t want to know what happens if you get adverse effects:w00t: And don’t be such a lazy git and rely on your missus to do the shopping - Jetmeals are shopped for and cooked by both parties - get on with it:D
The golden rule is 3 days - I worked in a hotel kitchen while at college and everything got a date sticker as it was put on the shelf in the fridge … figured if it was good enough for them then it was good enough for meDay 4 = bin
Day 6 = well …

The other thing to bear in mind of course … surface area … the larger, the more opportunity for bacteria growth.200 gram piece of steak = 1,000 bacteria colonies per square centimeter = 25,000 colonies?200 grams of mince = 1,000 bacterial colonies per square cenitmeter = 250,000 colonies?Total stab in the dark guess of course at the numbers - but the point stands

pussy! although i’ve probably hardened up to potentially dodgy food with the amount i eat. my own rule is the spicier the meal, the longer it’ll keep in the fridge. i am alot more careful with chicken though :w00t:
The spiciness won’t stop it going off - just will stop your tongue realising that it tastes a bit iffy:w00t:
is it furry?
And what about the chilli ?

+1
i reckon you’ve got at least another week left on it
Trust your sense of smell, if it smells ok, then usually it is.
If in doubt, chuck it
You not feeding him Mel?!?..
Mel is now noting NEVER to attend when Mr R6 offers to cook a meal… Especially when it is either leftovers night or “something he threw together with whats left on the fridge”
Or
Its too late and that she is now hoping she looked at the forum sooner
