Noticed there is what looks like a speed camera there. Its at the lights and there are markings on the floor from the stop line going away from you.
What is this camera? A speed camera? Red light camera or both?

Not seen this particular one but I’ve noticed in South London on the major roads (e.g. south circular) that the red light cameras have been replaced by speed cameras with the lines on the road starting at the solid stop line. I guess they figure they will have more joy catching people speeding to get through a yellow/orange/dark orange/red light 
That’s been there ages and i can confirm it works for those that speed through it.
But is it only active when the light goes red?
It acts like a regular speed camera whether the light is red, amber or green.
So if u speed through a red light it’s double the points?
The idea is to discourage people from putting their foot down to get through a set of lights as they’re changing.

I’ve requested that one of those be installed at the Surrey Canal Road/Ilderton Road junction. Too many twats are running the lights from the SC Road end. Bloody dangerous and just plane foolish. Would be a good income generator for the council and also a big safety step for commuters who are not unmitigated arseholes!

I’ve seen similar cameras on the A24 flashing people for speeding and jumping red lights (separate instances), unless they’re very badly designed then they should be able to get you for both at the same time.
On the plus side, there’s a fair chance that you’ll kill yourself in the process of speeding through a red light so you wouldn’t need to worry about the fine.
I haven’t had a speeding ticket from it but a good mate of mine has

says on TFL site and the camera location site its a reds light camera?
there is the same thing through new cross road where its all 20mph. Same cameras on all of the lights. Who ever sticks to 20mph through there?
