Bus Lane Fine

Got a nice surpise in the post this morning, a £60 fine for entering the bus lane on Penge High Street. I’m usually pretty carefull about bus lanes but did remember zipping up this one last month to get away from some know in a land rover who had been tailgating me. Has anyone managed to get let off for this reason? I aslo thought they had to send you a picture of the offence but didn’t recieve this.

Cheers.

Have a read of this website mate : http://www.pepipoo.com/

Can ask for pic… if the bus lane wasnnt a red line in the gutter jobby then the fine will stand pretty much.

But always good to appeal - is a chance… PLUS major benefit is that any appeal/communications holds it at the lower cost… so gives you more time to pay up if you do have to pay it, without it going up… same for parking tickets by the way.

you can ask for the evidence if they ain’t sent you it with the find.

I stupidly used Vauxhall bridge at about 6pm last week on wednesday. Both lanes absolutely choc a block and not moving for 20 minutes. In the boiling heat on a hot 400cc machine.

Had to use the bus lane as I followed a big bast&rd of a bmw rg along. I expect a fine shortly. :frowning:

Which bus lane did you use - the northbound one is open to bikes. The southbound one isn’t because it is a contraflow lane that leads straight into the bus garage.

I got 2 the other week, 1 week apart - absolute kick in the balls! Check out any loop holes in them though, check to make sure they are signed correctly and what not before paying up.

Southbound

I couldn’t wait any longer to be honest, it must have been the warmest day of the year and I had my textiles on. For the £60 fine, it was worth getting out of that heat! Besides, the footy & pub was calling me…:stuck_out_tongue:

In future consider Lambeth Bridge. Even if it means Millbank, Lambeth Bridge and Albert Embankment to Vauxhall Cross. Lots of open bus lanes, and not much traffic most days.

Was it sent to the owner? if so send it on the the DVLA. your not the owner

your the keeper.:hehe:

not sure if this link is worth a try. but intresting reading.

Just read that link… wow. Why would people go to all that trouble to avoid paying insurance MOT etc… when they have already incurred costs of P&P alone of over £200-300!!!

I dont see the benefit… They encourage driving w/o license and motor insurance etc. I know they mention private insurance… but i would be VERY pssed off to have someone mow me down on the road and find out they can claim a new bonnet off their private insurance… and i cannot claim sht… and cant even claim damages as they have even got an indemnity bond…

Whilst i agree, in part, that not 100% of what we have to pay is used efficiently… but it all goes into a Govt pot if you think about it…

If Govt bosses are going to dip their hand in the pot - the truth is they always will and we wont be able to know how much nor how to prevent it…

But my point is: if they pilfer the big pot then they always will… and the rest will go where it is needed. Taxes and charges of all kinds make up this pot. If we go to stupid lengths like these guys are to spend the same sort of money (BUT PAY IT TO PRIVATE FIRMS FROM WHOM WE CAN DERIVE NO BENEFIT AT ALL FROM) simply will result in higher income tax being charged to keep the kitty topped up… Or alternatively the rest of us who DO pay road tax etc will have to pay it at a higher rate.

Maybe I am missing something here… but to me it seems there is a certain “cutting nose of to spite one’s face” going on… (Bit like protesters smashing the windows of the one bank they ultimately foot 60% of the repair bills for!! f*cking idiots!)

The “guy” who wrote that has plenty of articles on blogs, forums and online document archives in which he claims, based on a range of strange and unusual claims, to be able to avoid paying bills, get off fines, etc etc. It all looks very irrational to me. He is also providing advice on taking legal action etc when there is no evidence he is legally qualified.

imo the person who thought it wise not to board up that bank are the idiots.

and if you think after they dip their noses in the trough, the rest goes to the cause ie road tax for the roads your way off the mark.

when was the last time you were out on your bike?

i dont think you anyone is saying ride without insurance, but its more about taking responsible for yourself.

as i understand it in Canada the freemen movement are setting up a system for insurance, it needs only thousend people all putting 1k each into a pot, the cost of 2 people to addminister.

and as long as you dont claim your covered, no end date.

now you might be happy with the status quo, but im not.

So I received the photographic ‘evidence’ of me in the bus lane today. The interseting thing is that the pictures are from a forward facing camera and do not show my number plate. The only pictures they have that show my number plate are of me outside the bus lane at the next set of traffic lights. Surely the council have to supply evidence of my number plate clearly visible in the bus lane.

lol - I wish you luck on that one. If the evidence is timed, it will prove it is the same bike, along with clothing and detailing.

Just think of all the ones you’ve got away with, spread it out over the time and if you’re like me it would probably cost you 5pence every time you enter. :hehe:

I got one through a couple of weeks ago, had pics on back and both were from rear - must dirty my number plate even more so they can’t read it

Be careful on Southampton Row/Kingsway, I’ve just got 2, one day after each other. I’ve been cutting the corner there for a long time but it looks like they have just put up a new revenue generation cash machine - sorry I mean CCTV camera!

The Kingsway tram tunnel stops you filtering on the outside.

Right I think someone put up one of them flick plates somewhere… might be time to invest in one:)

I for one love how I paid C&G’s debts… it is now owned by me (the tax payer), I got to the bank for a mortgage and they screw me over… yes mate here have this mortgage at %7 for 6 years fixed… but wait we also have to check your ass and all your past.

Where is my discount for owing some share in it??? why do they give re-mortgages for peanuts and new buyers hell??? they not helping anyone… why not give new mortgages 3% rate until this **** is fixed???

I can’t understand anything so I give up… corruption and fraud at the highest levels…

Anyone read that???**

You’re not actually in the bus lane. You’re just filtering. Why no appeal? There’s no rule saying you’re not allowed to filter in bus lanes.

otherwise I don’t understand. Aren’t bus lanes okay for motorcycles in London?

only bus lanes displaying the bike which are the ones owned by tfl if im right, and he’s to the left of the thick white line, which incedently is also part of the bus lane and you can get fined for riding along it
