You should have called BT and quoted the reg of said car, and told them that he really was driving dangerously and tried knocking you off and for good measure said you had reported it to the police:P
BT would have bolloxed him big style:D why do you think cars nowadays have the badly driven number on the back:w00t:
Jools was knocked by a Sainsburys lorry last year, phoned the 'well driven’people and they contacted Sainsburys etc. to progress the claim (she didn’t come off, but the impact was enough to bend the R&G crash bungs…)
I have reported a BT van driver for performing a U-Turn (no indication) I almost went into the side of his van…he swore at me when I hooted him, so took the reg. and reported him. had a phone call 2 days later from the fleet manager, who apologised. Said the guy was on holiday at the moment, had been reported for this type of incident before and would be getting a severe reprimand and driver training on his return to work…oh and did I want to ‘take it any further’!!! Declined the offer, but appreciated what was being done.
You’d still be listening to cr@p lift music whilst being told that ‘your call is very important to BT’ if you had! I’m surprised they don’t use 0870 numbers just to put people off ringing and complaining about this kind of driving!
Sorry to hear that and yes I agree that you should report these kind of incidents. My friend was nearly driven off the road the other day by a bus! She reported it and a day later had a phone call from some area manager who apologized profusely.
I nearly got taken out by a bus in Aldwych when the driver tried to push his way in front of me, then when I told him what I thought (not aggressively) he had another go.
I’ve had white vans swerve straight at me as I’ve been filtering… just stay cool, it’s the best way in the end.
Love it…That’s the very platform on which I’ll be standing for election next time around…
by the way, I spose everyone has noticed Boris’ “change of heart” in MCN about bikes using the buslanes - what a surprise, a two-faced politician, who’d’ve thought it…
When he was campaigning he said he would open bus lanes to bikes.
Now he has said that it’s not as simple as that and he needs to consult - strangely this comes after some self-righteous cycling group has lobbied him.
It seems a couple of local authorities refused to agree to the idea and are lobbying other councils to stop any such changes also. When pressed, Boris (allegedly) said that it (the opening of the lanes) wasn’t definite. The cyclist groups are really well organised and seem to carry a lot of weight. Again, I’d like to see some definitive answers from them about whether they are prepared to pay some sort of road tax, carry insurance, agree to be registered and abide by the laws of the road and accept the various penalties if they don’t. I don’t think for a second the majority would as it would remove all the benefits they currently offer. Truth is, if more cyclists than bikers get in touch and campaign and generally flex their muscles it will be them that win the day.
