BSB Motorsport Photo Galleries - an explanation

Thanks for the kind words and for you all taking the time to put comments on them.

It makes all the difference to me and Mike, really it does. It’s nice to know our work is appreciated by everyone else. We don’t really know what people think so it’s great for you to say. Chunks, Tiggi and Seb I’d like to sort out a print each for you guys, nowt huge but mebbe 10x8 or something if you want to pick one of mine - or Mike’s as I’m sure he’ll pass me the DNG to sort prints from. It means that much to us guys.

We try to take ‘different’ shots to normal, and to avoid the repetition - different bikes going around the same corner over and over - that I felt plagued some of our galleries in the past. Some repetition is inevitable (we can’t shoot every corner for various reasons) and ‘stock’ type shots always have value if they are good ones. So we even sort the galleries before uploading to ensure that there are as few ‘clumps’ of similar shots as practical.

I’m sure you’ll have all noticed that there are also more pictures going up than before. It’s not that we are trying to show off (I’ve actually got about 1000 publish quality images from the two days shooting, about 4500 actually taken) but LB is very serious about getting these images, and therefore the site, out into the motorsport world.
Publishing more photos of more classes will appeal to more people and that means more chance of teams actually stepping in to buy the pictures and associate with LB. Thus we start generating revenue for us (it’s about £100 on average for each weekend with petrol etc but without lost earnings from Fridays) and that means ultimately for you all. We don’t want the site to be plastered with huge adverts and ‘sell out’ the site - this way is a great way of achieving a financial base for Londonbikers.com without the tasteless commercialism none of us want. From there we can start really taking this site places - for example we’ve talked many times about the fact that we can’t organise official LB rideouts because if the cost that Liability insurance would be. If we had a pot of money then this would be solved.

So hope you understand, and again thanks for the support. There have been plenty of times already this season when I’ve wondered why i do this, your thanks is one reason i stand on wet windy circuits with expensive gear getting wet after sleeping in the car. Truth be told, it’s the most important reason.

Enjoy the pictures, I’m working on ways to make us more visible at these events so I hope to hear from you (literally) at the races soon, and please let us know what you do or don’t like about the galleries.

You are our judges.
