Bruce Lee was so cool.........

Saw this on another forum…was a big fan when I was younger.

This man was amazing…

Bruce Lee does ping pong

Cool vid, but a fake viral for the new nokia N96…there is a second one where he lights matches in mid-air…

my dad used to go to school with him in Kowloon:P

Just saw that…:doze:

But it did get me looking at the REAL videos of him…Game of Death…oh yes

Yes he was cool, drugged up to the eyeballs to give him the fitness and speed but shame it wasnt real re the ping pong…

Speaking of ping pong, (or punk pong as we like to call it), I’m going to set up a UK Subs gig/table tennis tournament in the summer, possibly at a radio station somewhere near Romford or Ilford. Who’s up for it?

And yes, Bruce Lee was way cool!

I loved that guy when i was a kid… He was fast as fock with them nunchucks, and im not on about in that clip, not sure if ive still got it lying around but i had a vid with him on doing them for real

I have never seen or read anything about this and would be interested to know your source so I can.

Bruce Lee was the Daddy. strength, stamina and reflexes like no one else. Total don!

Awesome video!

lol. yeah i’d be interested to know your sources too

afaik the only drug bruce lee touched was a little bit of the magic herb every now and again.

his speed came from relaxed body movement (wing chun theory, bruce’s first martial art) and his fitness and strength came from training very very hard and all the crazy training aids he developed.

just such a shame he had to pass so early in his life as i would’ve loved to see him in a mma event.

Sorry I only play Wiff Waff.

I think that its pretty well acknowledged that he used cannabis ( at least later in life) but other than being a vitamins / heath food fanatic, never seen or heard of a drugs issue – to repeat Adszki’s question what’s your source???

I know a few people who knew him and grew up with him in Hong Kong. They never really speak that well of him, but part of that may be the fact that they are also martial artists and many regarded him as selling out the tradition elements of their heritage. Having said that it may well be just a bit of jealousy and possibly general attitude towards ABC’s, but the phrase “cocky and arrogant” has been used more than once .

Regardless even if you don’t believe all the stories of superhuman feats – still an outstanding athlete.

Cool vid. BL was sooo cool.

bruce lee died probably due to his crazy training regime. imagine what would have happend if put bruce lee in the same ring with mke tyson, he could not survive the 1st round:)

I disagree. I think Bruce Lee would last the first round with Mike Tyson

In a ring to do what???

Its a matter of fact that boxers have failed for the most part in MMA - why would tyson be diffrent. Even given his size sucess would be unlikly against a rounded martial artist. GR is living proof giving away fifty or more pounds in fights. Straight boxing match - may be a diffrent matter - but then again Lee was not a boxer.

A straight fight (no rules) would have to be closer to MMA than boxing so its Lee all the way

hmmmmm this is a classic can of worms this - how does/would kung fu stand up in a mma environment. trouble is it’s almost impossible to answer as mma has it’s own set of rules that kung fu does not do so well within. a lot of kung fu, especially wing chun (bruce’s main basis and foundation of jeet kune do) relies on critical point striking (eyes, throat etc) which you cannot do in mma (killing and maiming is restricted).

and then it’s down to the fighter’s skill level. just coz a brazilian ju jitsu fighter beats a muay thai fighter does not mean bjj is better than muay thai. it simply means the bjj guy is a better fighter than the muay thai fighter.

bruce’s point, and a visionary one at that, was that you cannot be limited by a particular system. you should be able to flow from one to another applying when most appropriate for a given situation. each martial arts system is usually based around applying in a particular situation. the more systems at your disposable, the more versatile a fighter you become.

mma events are a particular situation, ring based, limited by rules. that’s why the grappling styles do so well. it’s the environment and rules they’re used to. take away the gloves and the rules and put it on a concrete floor and i think it’d be a much more open tournament.

it would be really really interesting to have seen how bruce would’ve faired in an mma event. he would have torn tyson apart. mainly because bruce was an intelligent fighter and tyson an idiot. fighting isn’t for the stupid. it’s an intelligent exchange relying on knowledge of the body, manipulation and strategy. plus a bit of mindless violence and a psychotic tendency (where tyson excelled).

but anyway. there’s much more to kung fu than fighting. and i’m just thankful that because of people like bruce lee and many others, it’s reached the western world

OOh no real evidence just that he took cannabis, proven and that likely in my mind he did other drugs too hence the kind of death that he had…still think he was great, got me into kung fu big time…and still love his films today…
