Article in this weeks MCN says British cops with speed cameras targeting Bikes from U.K, why dont they send them over to stop illegals entering the UK from france. Is it because there is no money in that?
Incredible isnt it. The French say that cannot keep up with the number of UK drivers speeding in their courntry. This story was reported in the press and brushed over because of some other unimportant story.
Actually the Immigration Service, or UK Borders Agency or whatever they’re calling them this week have had Immigration Officers based in Calais for ages.
The Kent Police weren’t issuing fines, they were trying to educate british drivers about being naughty in France. The French police are apparently coming over to have a look at how we do things later in the year, although I can’t imagine spending hour upon hour pouring over pictures taken in Gatso cameras will excite them in anyway - and if they should be silly enough to venture on to our mean streets then I think they’ll find the paperwork a bit of a chore:)
Are the french cops gonna do the same over here then?
Yep, last line of the report in the Telegraph

In fact ,there would be a great deal of money in that if you think about it:)
Ah, but it was in MCN, so it might not be entirely true
How?
A week ago, a lot of the national press were running articles about how Kent Police officers were working on the A25 in France, in conjunction with their french colleagues. stopping British motorists some of whom were speeding and reminding them about their responsibilities in France, that they have traffic laws as well, and that they need to obey them. Kent Police were handing out free Hi Viz jackets - something you are required to carry in france now - and advising drivers about the variable speed limits in force on the autoroutes - requirements to carry and use a red warning triangle etc etc.
MCN this week have turned it round to bikes being targeted by British Police in France.
MCN is a sensationalist news paper, the Sun of the motoring press. Often their ‘stories’ are nothing more than stories about motoring in general rehashed to put a bike spin on it.
Don’t believe everything you read in the press.
Big +1
that Hi viz thing is a joke…I was in france last week and counted …two …and there were on bikes with German plates !
