So after selling my much loved FZ6 S2 4 months ago I finally bought another bike, a 2013 Street Triple R - bough it privately, 10k miles, bike looked in good condition etc, paperwork was all there, only 1 owner, serviced at triumph etc, took it for a spin yesterday, all good but then this morning on the way to work it stalled, oil light was on and it wouldn’t start.
I turned off the ignition, turned it back on, it started but the engine light remained on.
Considering I have only done 40 miles on it I feel duped - can anyone recommend me a good garage around Gants Hill that will have a good look over the whole bike for me?
i’d be very very wary of riding it like that, from what i hear from Scorch its mostly catastrophic on any bikes but on Triumphs its absolutely not to be messed about.
if the engine light is on even before you hit the start button i would leave it well alone.
I didn't notice any ticking noise - what you thinking it could be? I didnt have a chance to look at it during my lunch but will check the oil when i leave and probably call MCE recovery.
My triumphs light used to come on and stay on for days if the bike hit a pothole or had a hard jolt and in the 14years i had it both myself and triumph could never find the reason why so I just used to ignore it
Now I’m not saying you should ignore it you should get it looked at for peace of mind
Oon a side note I have a tune ecu cable so don’t buy one you can have mine saves me throwing it or it sitting in the cupboard gathering dust
Right - so recovery chap picked up the bike, couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it, oil is fine, engine oil looked good, runs fine etc nothing obvious.
He has dropped me off at I will take it to a dealer soon as I can, I think i’m going to have the whole bike given a check over just for peace of mind.
Thanks for offering me the cable Wise but on this occasion I think I will have Jack Lilley Romford take a look at it as I only live up the road, dont want to risk anything this time around.
There’s really no risk in plugging it into TuneECU, just plugged in it will show you any fault codes. The risk only comes when you start fiddling with the map, don’t fiddle with the map. Read the codes and save yourself c£75.00 of hard earned. Here’s one I did earlier. The P0413 fault code was due to a poorly connected plug, more TuneECU showed me exactly where, amongst the many sensors to look, secondary air injection circuit.
Before and after cleaning and re-connecting the wiring loom plug/socket from the ECU to the secondary air injection loom.
Triumph didn’t think so, they upgraded the ECU software from 2014 onwards. Not sure if TuneECU have caught up with that as yet, read the instructions and FAQ with care
