Bikesure insurance disgraceful

anyone else had this?

I have a claim pending as someone knocked into my bike causing me to fall off. There fault not mine

I rang my insurance as my bike isn’t rideable at the moment. I tried to add my spare bike on and the reply was this

“sorry we cant do that as you have a claim pending at the moment” i asked if i can remove the bike and add another one and they said "no sorry not while you have a claim pending its our terms of business. So the next question was well what do I do? i use my bike everyday for work?? I need to add my spare bike so I can get into work??

the answer “its not our problem sorry but while you have a claim pending thats there is nothing we can do”

DISGRACEFUL. This was Bikesure insurance…Now going to have to get a train and pay £££’s I feel very ashamed and let down…whats the point of having insurance if you end up financially ruined because of them???

Well, the part that says ‘it’s not our problem’ could be said a bit more polite by their representative, but you can’t do anything and if this is in their terms and conditions they probably can’t do anything too. Learn your lesson and if you have two bikes get them both on the policy before something happen. When I bought another bike I had them two on the policy until I sold one. It usually doesn’t cost much more.

Had similar situation but with my phone, my network provider doesn’t do insurance, I had one phone for two years and nothing happened, after two years I upgraded for a super new super expensive phone and because I thought that for two years I had previous phone nothing happened so why bother myself with insurance? After 3 months I had it stolen by some bloke in the pub, now I don’t have a phone, my network won’t give me another one because they don’t do insurance and I still have to pay quite high contract every month. Could insure it with my bank for few quid a month and could have brand new replacement. I was so angry and phoned my network many times to say how disappointed I am that they won’t provide me with new phone because I was their customer for more than a two years, paying high contract etc, but at the end it was my fault because I couldn’t spare few quid a month… Now I have to use some old sh*tty phone until I get another upgrade next year. I’ll insure it straight away.

Standard across most insurers. I think you’re being a bit harsh on Bikesure saying that they’re a disgrace.

When I wrote the Bonne off in 2010 it was the same - no transfer or additions while a claim is in progress. Although they did me a good deal on insurance for the replacement - MCE [Equity Red Star]

Not at all. I asked them if I could ad or change my bike at anytime when I took the policy out they said yes.

They never told me about this. The policy terms they sent me did not explain this either

Got a call from BLD today. They offered to take my bike for repairs and give me a hire bike. I declined the offer for one reason

I was given a hire bike before by BLD then after reading there policy booklet it states that if the claim was settle as a fault claim then you can be liable for all the hire costs. Also it states if the bike is not used enough they can also charge you. Not chancing that sorry. Gave the hire bike straight back to them.

No thank you.

Why do I need a company to take my bike away and repair it when I can repair It myself? What ever happens to the loss adjuster coming to look and a damaged bike then telling you if it’s a write off or not.

has the other party admitted liability? if so can you not rent a bike and charge them in the claim?

got a call from the other party’s insurance today. they have admitted they were in the wrong and are going to pay for the damage. claim over.

Well judging by what you said previously, you may have a legitimate claim to make against your insurance company for any money that you have lost in the interim.

You could, based on what you have said, state that this was a representation made to induce you into a contract with them, and that you were induced into the contract with them based on this statement, and since it was false, whether fraudulently, innocently or negligently, it amounts to a misrepresentation. Damages are available on the tortious basis, which means that it doesn’t matter if the damages were foreseeable.

If you have spent any money in the interim, of course.

If it says anywhere in the terms that you are unable to make changes to your policy whilst they are settling a claim, you’ll have a problem as their counter argument will always be, ‘you must read your documents’ no matter how long they are or how small the print. However, like Kaos has already mentioned, there’s nothing to stop you claiming costs from the third party insurer.
Hope the bike gets fixed and looking pretty soon

All insurance is disgraceful to be honest
