It never ceases to amaze me how car drivers are totally blind to anything other than another car or whatever on 4 wheels, this morning on the way to work, I was coming down the outside lane, when a prik in a focus decided he’s going to change lanes without so much as a glance Luckily nothing was coming on the other side so I managed to swerve without coming off!
There were 2 bikes behind me a busa and a ktm, the busa passed him first, stopped tapped the this guy’s window pointed at me and gave him the finger, the ktm guy also stopped, glared at him and drove off, then the busa guy stopped beside me at the lights and asked if I was OK.
What a great community biking is, total strangers looking after one another, love it!
And it’s one of the rare occasions when total strangers are polite and considerate. I was filtering (slowly, cos that’s the only speed I filter at) along the M25, noticed a bike behind me, moved out of the way, got a foot wag. Made me smile, cos EVERY time I’ve done something polite for another rider, it’s acknowledged. Most of the time when I do something considerate for another CAR driver, it’s completely blanked, no manners.
I was up in Oxford last week … and noticed this biker just sat on the roundabout … pulled up along side, and it was a female who was just waiting for her two biker mates.
Then they turned up, and I rode off … later overtook them down some road, no idea what it was … and the two other bikers put there thumbs up, as in to say “thanks for checking on our girl”
Well I would agree for most part other than when I had my RTA on friday loads and I mean loads of bike just carried on past not one stopped to see if i was ok…
Sorry to say, but you were on a scooter, and bikers don’t have quite so much time for them - not my personal opinion, but a well recorded fact - even on this forum.
Sorry you experienced that, and p!sser about your scoot being write off. However, you could try to get it back on road - if your TPT&F, n you get 50:50 deal then this may be only option anyway. Might not be too hard to sort - alot of times they are written off for cost of replacing bodywork and the like, whereas the actual bike itself is perfectly fine, apart from the comestic damage.
Spares should be cheap, so you could get back on 2 wheels soon, if you don’t mind riding around on “lived in” bike
When I got knocked off in December, about 15 different bikes stopped for me! Even when I was sat on the wall later with the police (giving a statement), about 4 bikers stopped to check on me and the bike.
point well made I guess… with regards to repair it is just body work, however my scooter is so rare on the roads trying to get parts is like trying to get blood out of a stone and yes even on ebay.
