Nice spot Loki, I saw this too…

I’d say this is something we should be doing to show solidarity but someone is bound to tell me that “it would just be annoying and wouldn’t get any results”

Shame really… that LONDONBIKERS is behind the curve on this one…

Not that it will make any difference:doze: Goverment will never put tax down…

Not only that but someone is bound to go squealing.

I think we should follow the example and do another one around the north circular!!

I’m GAME!

Daylight robery this fuel prices!!

The only time the government really change is when they’ve seriously c0cked up, ie recent abolishment of 10% tax banding, or when riots result.

Maybe it’s that time again? I dont condone it, but lets face it, it’s pretty much the only time the government will listen.

I’d be up for it

And then they **** it up further by borrowing 2.7 billion to pay for a tax rebate! Go figure that one out.

so ive heard,

i very much doubt the goverment is going to be bothered by a few hours of congestion in Manchester…

I’m of the mind that the protest was symbolic rather than there being any expectation that it will send the PM running to the Cabinet crying for a panicked change to taxes.

A million people turned up to protest against the Iraq War in February 2003, it changed nothing.
250,000 people turned up and rioted against the Poll Tax in March 1990, the Iron Lady resigned towards the end of the year, but we still have Poll Tax - it just has another name now
196,000 Miners and other unions protested about mine closures in 84-85, around ten people died and many suffered injuries. The mines still closed

500 bikers with a few taxi drivers and lorry drivers are not really going to make much of a difference. How many protesters would it take to make a difference?

Thats because for every 500 stong protest theres 10 million who dont bother. If only people realised their COLLECTIVE strength.

They cant lock EVERYONE UP - I am as pessimistic about the government as the next man - but i do think we can action change as long as it on-going, highly disruptive and well attended.

They cry poverty all the time yet find BILLIONS upon BILLIONS to fight the war. When companies announce record profits and when the tax on fuel is something like 40% then I think theres an awful lot of potential there for changes to be made…its not like they’re BARELY making a profit…IT HUGE!!!

At least they picked a nice day for it

I think the tax on fuel is over 60%. ie over 60p in the £

tax on fuel is 70%…not 40%

IMHO,the only way this government will listen,is if everyone stopped working, traveling,…ect…just stopped…they would crap themselves…

it would never happen again(like last time labor were in power)but thats the only way it will work…mass protest on a greater scale…

i think also we should be leading by example,we live in london, and have parliment at our doorstep…i say we park our bikes up,still in full leathers and helmets, and walk around parliament square …around and around for about 3 hours…then all the MP’s will be late for meetings:D

then, keep doing it and doing it until something gives…;).

worth a shot eh?..lol

smiled:).

It’s you and me against the government, when do you attack?

If the cost of petrol is a problem, get a smaller engined bike :stuck_out_tongue:

We should be more like Spain, this is from an internal memo received today:

Please inform your customers of the following information which wil affect deliveries:

A General Transport Strike has been announced in Spain. This will commence on 8th for an indefinite period.

Unless the Spanish Ministry of Public Works can come to a bilateral agreement the following are likely:

Suspensions of national and international transport services

Closure of Borders

Road blockades

There will also be severe delivery delays across the rest of Europe due to fuel protests. Further information will follow.

LOOOL at the idea of doing this on the North Circ or M25… no-one could tell the difference
