bikers driving cars.....

does anyone else on here still feel intimidated driving when there are bikes around them?

Im usually very observant and see them coming, have a big think bike sticker on back of car, but yet im still really nervous when theres a bike around me, partly due to the attitude of a large population of bikers towards cage drivers…

maybe put a londonbiker sticker on the car! :stuck_out_tongue:

or

I make you right its the though of what they might do and when they are going to do it

someone tried to put an lb sticker on, but left half the letters out

made a terrible mess trying to take it off again…:w00t:

I have an LB sticker on the back of my jam jar:D

Riding a bike does make you more aware of riders and inclined to check and double check when changing lanes etc

then u get sum tit riding along revving his engine, tailgating and trying to come up the inside of ya

oh wait, thats most of lb
lol

I don’t let stuff like that wind me up. Jst smile and think to myself “You’re a twit mate”

ive seen you ride! sound like you ;):stuck_out_tongue:

When im driving my car I always move over a bit if a bikes up my backside to let em past, I find myself doing lifesavers when Im driving aswell. I dont feel intimidated, I just drive how I would normally, bike behind me or not - its his or hers choice how close they get to me

me? but people always tell me i ride to slow

i am a far better car driver because im a biker, but i spose i feel more nervous knowing how much more vulnerable a biker is,i might know them, and also the fact i couldnt live with myself if anything happened that was a result of my driving

I have always been very aware of bikes on the road as I have always known someone who rides and now ride myself, I have my think bike sticker on the car just so that they know I am not a complete numpty when it comes to bikes. I always make sure that there’s enough room for a bikes to get past if I am stuck in traffic, going at slow speeds on the motorway and check my blind spot religiously when changing lanes. Have never felt intimidated by a biker but if they were being an idiot I would just let them get on with it as long as they don’t put me in danger.

I consider myself a safe and considerate bike rider and car driver. I try to give bikes more room if possible and as has already been said, if someones riding like a knob, let them go. You don’t want to be caught up in their accident. You’ll probably find that most of us are better car drivers than we would be if we didn’t ride too.

Don’t be nervous when surrounded by bikes, just drive normally and the bikes will get round you. If you can give them a little more room, then do.

Nothing worse than panicking and doing something that the rider behind you isn’t expecting.

Ride and drive safe all:)

Yeah, that’s what I think, just drive normally. You can be too careful. Lets face it, you ride a bike, you know what they are capable of. In town jams, fair enough, but is moving onto the grass verge and indicating left really going to help someone on a fast moving, open single carriageway?

Makes me laugh when people do that. “I’m on a bike mate, nothing you can do is going to help in the slightest. If I can’t overtake with this amount of BHP, I never will.”

Quick as a wink, they’ll be gone.

since learning to ride ive been ever more aware of bikers and what they could do next… if sitting in traffic i try keep an eye out for them filtering through and move over as much as i possibly can to let them through, but it really gets on my ts when car drivers purposely stop bikes from getin through just because they are stuck… i do get panickly sometimes when i see a biker coming up fast and they dont give me a chance to move over… e.g the lovely vespa rider yday on the finchley rd who thought i purposely blocked his route by hanging slightly over the yellow box junction… did not give you any f*ing right to kick my bumper in and hold up everyone else as you went past… i could see you and i tried to move… with a bus infront of me where would you like me to go? into it so you can scoot along your merry way?!!

excuse the rant… really pissed me off as i did even apologise before he kicked my bumper…

When you`re driving, make a point of cutting up bikers, keeps them on their toes!

vespa riders aren’t bikers…:Whistling:i’d be bloody ranting as well if i was you…probably wouldve jumped out my car and chased him/her through the traffic (not that i’m saying you should’ve done that)

i would have done believe u and me but i was on a very important trip to brent cross shopping centre lol :stuck_out_tongue:

Someone earlier posted that they thought they were better car driver for being a biker.

I endorse that. I endorse that to the point that I have had a rant (and stand by it) that a CBT plus 6 months road experience, as a minimum, should be a pre qualification for getting a provisional car licence.

When I’m in the car, I’m constantly using the mirrors (as on the bike) and trying to drive predictably for people following. Two things cage only London drivers don’t do.

Just pretend your on your bike. Just don’t try filtering at the lights.

Yep, as most of above, always aware of bikes and yes I am a better cager being a biker, only problem is that I lean into corners in the cage
