Police and ambulance were already on scene when I went past this morining at about 7.45.
Looks like a Suzuki had been hit by a car pulling onto the north bound carriagway from one of the gaps in the central reservation. Rider was face down and not moving, but being dealt with by paramedics. Hope he’s ok and just winded, the bike didn’t seem to damaged so I don’t think there was too much speed involved.
That’s a horrible section of road as you have to turn across two lanes of southbound traffic, stop in the central section and then pull onto the northbound side. I’ve seen loads of people that don’t stop in the middle and just come straight across.
Very nasty stretch of road. Lots of drivers do u-turns across the central reservation. Most of them just slam the anchors on and don’t indicate! Hope biker okay.
I used to use that route till this week but now I have been bypassing Streatham altogether, going instead along Beulah Hill, to Crown Point, Norwood, Tulse Hill, then Brixton. So much less traffic, fewer traffic lights, pedestrians, and cyclists.
Or you can nip down from Beulah Hill via Crown Lane and Leigham Court Road. Cross Streatham Hill- onto Thornton Road, Kings Avenue then up to Stockwell and Vauxhall
