Errr, I was looking at a bike recently to buy, however the owner is selling it with the steering lock broken??
Is there any legitimate reason why the steering lock should break? It sounds very suspect, I haven’t viewed the bike yet so don’t know reg. Its being sold on ebay.
A friend of mine had a BMW1200 which got knocked over when it was parked up. That sheared off the steering lock. I think the insurance company wrote it off because to fix the fault it would need a new steering thing. There was nothing wrong with the bike so he just replaced the damaged panels and carried on.
it may not be broke as in the lock bit but may have a prob with the key, is it an old bike?
some seize up and just dont lock on the steer lock option with the key.
but yes questions to the seller will help, get him to get pics of where the steer lock goes into the headstock, you will soon see clear if it was frcably damaged, it will make an odd shape where the lock goes in.
One quite a few bikes all it is a small lug of on the lower yoke. So basically a small place of alloy. It gets the paint knocked of a bit of corrosion, and hey presto it’s been removed because the owner was ham fisted.
