I was wondering if any of you guys have favourite bike vloggers (video bloggers)? If you do who are they and why do you watch them? Is it for the comedy, the mistakes/shocks or information?
I watch a bit of BaronVonGrumble and Royaljordanian as well as one or two LBer’s who post up on youtube with rideouts etc.
Yeah I’m subbed to quite a few on youtube, just to pass the time.
BaronVonGrumble amuses me lots.
RoadcraftNottingham is fairly sensible and is an instructor (I think), so offers useful advice.
187Premisis, but he’s a bit inactive lately, but fun to watch
Serpentza - rides (well thrashes) a scooter around china along with a big bike - mostly gives the lowdown on how it is o live in china
royaljordanian - best sounding bike in london probably, but I think his riding is a bit risky mind.
AppleVonCrumble - not sure if he’s a piss take from Baron, but he’s a good laugh
Latest chap I’ve subscriped to is Neilisin, seems like he’s into adventure bikes and touring around the globe, so has some good stuff.
I’ve seen a few but I don’t really subscribe to any. I think it’s similar to following people on twitter and it amounts to noise. It can be like watching “Friends,” in that after a while it’s the same thing over and over again with a few minor changes…or maybe I’m just getting old.
Premisis isent really a vloger he just post’s bad drivers up on the tube but a good laugh and really quite fun to ride with got some videos on my chan riding with premiss
Neilisin is a good guy meet him once or wise his drz is nice aswell =]
Didn’t watch them for comedy, I know some people have found them to be hugely funny, but I have found them to be tortuously dull. I was hoping to be informed, or for them to be insightful but they haven’t been either.
But as I said I have found bloggers to be rather dull as well.
Vlogging is a bizarre phenomena. There is something strangely mesmerising about watching other riders, especially in interesting locations around the world.
I just want to state a few things in support of it as i know vloggers sometimes get a torrid time of it - especially on ‘Bike’ forums. (LB is actually quite kind to them).
Yes, some are very boring - but its not for the viewers to slag them off if they want to record a diary of their rides - its up to them and if its not great, just move on. There is no need to pull his pants down and humiliate him (or her). If the boring ones are not getting a load of hits, they will probably stop after a while anyway.
I find it fascinating that sooo much of the bad vibe towards them comes from bike forums. These guys are in the same community as us and its odd to alienate them when they are literally, JUST like us. All you see on forums is a ‘cool’ avatar and a name - who’s behind the shadow is probably not as exciting as their rehearsed and carefully typed posts - try putting your point across ‘live’ without Google at your disposal to check if you are saying the ‘right’ thing. Its not easy.
To have the confidence to put up your riding for the world to scrutinise and pick at is also pretty brave. Its so very easy to sit behind a keyboard and preach what is ‘right’ - or just write ‘twat’ on a comment. At least these guys are expressing themselves, no matter if its boring as f*ck - at least they are out there doing something.
What will happen in the future?
Its a form of media still in relative infancy, but i cant see it going away so like it or not - i think its here to stay… for a while anyway until everyone realises social media is a load of bollocks and we go back to playing outside in the sunshine (rain!) with our families.
So in summary, many of these ‘vloggers’ (hate that word though) are boring people living boring lives - but aren’t most of us? Some good ones may break through and share their knowledge with the world and encourage new riders - which surely a good thing for our 2 wheeled comrades.
Always used to like Premises’ vids but they’ve been getting a bit tame recently. What’s going on?.. either the standard of driving in London goes up whenever he’s around on his bike, or he’s become the most polite rider ever and has nothing to film anymore. C’mon Premises, where’s the aggro? And missing the comments as well, like ‘Oi F***nut!’ :hehe:
I’m not really subscribed to any vloggers but I have watched a few clips from a few people here and there, mainly when people post here…
I really dislike the vloggers that only have ‘he cut me up, I shout at him’ videos… They get annoying after a bit and with a few I have wondered how much they are seeking these incidents out for their vlogs.
My personal favourite was the Baron’s attempt at greenlaneing on a GSXR… had me in stitches but it was also the sort of thing I had always wondered how a sports bike would fair in tricky byways… I had seen a bandit once on the byways around me but the ones here are easy.
That’s the sort of thing I like to see, people doing daft-ish things. Most of us will have thought of them, but many won’t have actually done them… Like Svengalie (I believe it was) who purposefully got a ticket just to prove that the excuse of the tax disc writing ‘bicycle’ does not work.
Haha dont worry mate I have a few gems saved that are waiting to be uploaded. Hopefully this week.
Recently though I’ve been working at a different site (away from Westminster) and literally almost nothing happens on my journeys now.
Good for my blood pressure, bad for you guy who want to see blood. It’s only temporary though.
As Ross said Premises187 is NOT a Vlogger.
Also BaronVonGruble is the best in the business. I had the pleasure of meeting the man himself and having a good chat with him.
He is bloody tall!
