Bike theft's in Farringdon area

Just like to run a poll on how many of you have had bikes nicked in the Farringdon area. I have had two stolen fron there in the last 4 years and one stolen that ended up there. Seems like a shed load are nicked there and I would like to see what sort of number we are talking about as I would like to do something about it (legally of course).

Thanks for your help.

I know of 4 stolen bikes belonging to work mates all going in the space of four months 2005 / 2006

R1, R6 x 2, and 1 Suzuki Bandit !!

Cheers Barro, trying to do something because of the indifference shown to me on all 3 occasions by the authorities. Also will try to get more done by the local council to speed up the installation of ground anchors.

I worked there for a year in 2003/2004, and had my K1 750 stolen. When it happened I spoke to others riders and it turned out about a dozen bikes had been stolen before. It’s epedemic round there, apparently it was, and might still be, the hot-spot of bike theft in the whole of Europe. And does it get a priority from the plod… no…

Lots of rough council estates nearby you see as well, then there’s MCN who had a bike nicked as well from there.

It is or was apparently, one of the worst places in the whole UK for bike theft.

mate of mine had his zrk nicked from there couple of yrs back, back of van job though, wasnt chained to anything.

Check out http://www.crimereduction.gov.uk/vehiclecrime54.htm , stunned is the only word to describe the sheer number of thefts.

Mine is down as a medium risk Yamaha over 1050cc… Not happy, but I do keep it chained and disc locked at home. Not much else can be done as it is on the street. No garage or off road parking available.
