Bike theft does pay

I believe it was Avon and Somerset police who yesterday admited that they had not tried to stop a motorcycle thief as he was not wearing a helmet. They said that should the thief crash during a chase they could be sued by them.

What next, government policy dictates that the police cannot arrest people as they may be sued for causing emotional distress!! Robbers will not be persued any more as they could climb into a roof and demand KFC and a coke. Oh, this has happened already!!!

Its so wrong isnt it! Yet but if your legal, wearing all the gear and doing 60 in a 50 you get pulled and a telling off! Its all wrong! They should pull the little tea leaf off the bike and beat him round the head for being such an ar&ehole!

That’s what I dont get either but apparently that is the case (it was in The Times so must be true). Mind boggling.

If the chase (in the view of the officer chasing who is trained by the police to do this) in anyway puts the person in a high danger of crashing or other members of the public in danger from the chase then the police will stop the chase. (what I’ve been told in general and I know there is a lot more to it that porkyscratch and other will be able to add)

As people can tell I’m not a cop but I have had a lot of chats with officers who would love to chase the litlle “so and so” down but if they crash then the officer will not only get it in the ar$e from the people in the police force but the papers will go mad at them. Also IMO people on this site would also have a go at the cop saying it was not worth the chase because the person is now in hospital. But IMO I’d be happy the little tea leaf was in hospital as thats where I want anyone that wants to take my bike!

(walks away thinking has a $hit morning at work had any reflection on what I’ve posted )

“Also IMO people on this site would also have a go at the cop saying it was not worth the chase because the person is now in hospital.”

No chance Niceday! I hope the little scumbags come a cropper and rip their skin off scraping down the road all the way!

(Damn, where did that violent streak come from…must’ve caught if from Paivi on Wed)!

Bring back stocks… but substitute rotten veg for house bricks

Yeah, when I got tugged the other day the copper told me the same thing. They generally don’t pursue bikes as the riders usually end up killing themselves… I actually don’t see that as a bad thing

Reminds me of 2001. Had been made redundant on a Thursday afternoon and was my local work pub with colleagues and was getting tanked up and feeling frustrated at redundancy. About 8pm was outside the pub having a chinwag with p****d off colleague when noticed two yoofs on a scooter riding on the pavement with lights off. My scoot was parked in a bay across road so thought “Mmm” lets keep an eye on this one. Sure enough, one hops off scoot, looks around and then tries to break my steering lock (bit stupid as it has a massive chain on the back wheel and a disc lock (well lets face it, if there were clever they would have jobs and not be thieving scrotes).

Anyway, red rag to bull. Handed my pint to my mate, looked both ways and legged it across road. Now for those of you that have met me at Cubana, I aint small (supertanker trying to stop comes to mind). Tackled both of them and we all fell in a very untidy tangle on the ground. They were up and running in a split second, me in my brogues was not as quick but gave chase till they buggered off.

As chance would have it, who should turn the corner, two bike police!!! Stopped them explained what had happend and gave a description. Off they went. Came back half an hour to say that they had found the two but had lost them when they crashed in a local housing estate (Farringdon). Police explained it had been quite a bad crash so expected them to be limping for some time.

They took my details etc and when I explained what had happened one said he was quite glad that I hadnt caught them as I would most likely have been arrested for kicking the c**p out of the two.

Needless to say the landlord of the pub let me put the bike in the pub overnight.

“Violent streak”? Moi?

That gynaecologist deserved to die! He had cold hands.

The only good thief is a dead thief.

Kinda go with the sentiments, perhaps a tad harsh. I reckon a thumbless one is good enough.

It is extremely frustrating to ‘call off’ a pursuit but our training and guidelines are strict and there to protect the public mainly…

I pursued an R1 from Colnbrook and i could have followed him all day he was that crap…just relied on hooning in a straight line…

anyway after the 3rd red light at over 90mph i called it off…

I won’t risk a casualty…the risk is to high and i would never justify it in an enquiry…

Hmmm, I guess this helps to explain their current popularity amongst drug pushers & other dodgy sectors of society.
