As of April my bike tax is now £515! C*nts!
I guess 195HP is frowned upon by the Government!

Get a yzf r125 then
What bike model/year do you have?
All I found was the new tax rates based on emissions for new vehicles registered from April '07. How did you get to that price?
I just paid 60squid on the old R6 today.
Indeed. I paid for my bandit just this week and it was £82.
Engine size (cc)
Not over 150    £17
151-400           £39
401-600           £60
Over 600          £82
Franco that doesn’t sound right…
That’s about the same as the highest car rate.
I think there’s a higher rate for the first year you buy a car (possibly a bike as well now) - are you looking at the first year rate?
Ok, we have been drinking red wine all day, so may be slightly ski whiff
.
However my partner had carried out a study for a well known german sports manufacturer and it’s not looking great.
All based on emissons and wheel sizes etc. Some cars will be nearly 2k per year.
She had checked the DVLA website (in the bar) and based on the emissions stated on Ducati’s website I’m in the highest bracket. This year I’m still paying £7.50 per month, post April 2017 that will raise to £515 for the highest bracket potentially.
Hopefully if this only affects new bikes, happy days, as I wont be upgrading anytime
All I could find is this table on gov.uk
Problem is at the top it says vehicles, but in the table it says TC48, TC49, TC59 cars. Motorcycles are TC17.
I hope it’s all crap, but according to her indoors we will be paying in the region of £300-£350 for my son’s Cooper S in road tax.
Compared to the £2500 for the insurance we pay, its not too bad for a group 30 non-eco friendly car.
It was just a shock that bikes may be affected by the new tax scheme.
I guess we will soon find out either way.
Don’t get me wrong, I will pay whatever is required. Rather then swap to a lesser CC bike, just seems like a massive hike potentially.
(Note to self, don’t post when one’s been on the grape juice)
30 Jan 2017 - The way vehicle tax is calculated will change for cars and some motor homes that are first registered with DVLA from 1 April 2017. … New vehicle tax rates from 1 April 2017.
Looks like bikes may not be affected after all or older motors
Bikes are not affected
Franc, hope the hangover is ok. For future reference, cars have 4 wheels, bikes 2
Well this all started in the bar as my 1st MOT is due on the 19th of March. But tax was due on the 1st of March…
At least we got tha bit right

.
However, I got stitched up and ended up subscribing to a MOT reminder service costing £10 per year!
Looked like DVLA type site and no mention of any charge, alarm bells should of rang when they requested my phone number for verification🙈.
Ciao and time to hit the local mountain bar soon, no more pissed posts

They deliberately try to make them look like the real DVLC site and with plausible sounding website addresses. They then charge 'an administration fee' on top of the tax charge. Very underhand. They should be shut down.
