The Police weren’t counting which was a problem early on. The Support Rider Control was trying to manage things to get the bikes on the road quicker. The first run was probably over 500, from then they were counted out at 500s every 20 minutes, but later on groups of 1000 were going as soon as they could be escorted out. I tail-gunned and provided first-aid support for the fourth ride of 500 riders at 12.20, and a group of 1000 bikes at 2.30. Support Rider Control stopped counting at 8000 bikes on the road, and that was after only two hours. By then they were just getting bikes out as quickly as Support Riders and Police were available to escort them. Control estimates that there were 3000 bikes in the last run, not 1,500. Bikes were leaving regularly from 11am to 4pm the last ride taking about 40 minutes to pass when I was coming back the other way after my second support run. Unregistered bikes were allowed to run, so there is no idea of how many bikes ran the route, and Control seems to have lost count of the number of runs which is no surprise given the workload. Everyone who turned up and who didn’t break down ran the route, but we were at capacity. Any more and we wouldn’t have managed, especially as the police clocked off at 4 and left Support Riders holding traffic at junctions (and even at an accident I understand) for 30 minutes plus to get the last ride through.
Here are some pictures I took. Most are from the group of Support Riders and Police at the head of the bikes forming up. As each lane of two bikes left, they were filled up by bikes arriving. Each line of bikes was about a third of a mile long. Bikes were still turning up at 2pm.

What a f***ing crap reporter and web site.
I just spent 20 minutes writing a reply for it to come back as an error and delete all that i had written:w00t:
Makes my blood boil, the sopy wet lettuce of a fly fisherman, the closest thing to danger would be catching a bloody cold. What a cock.
Thanks, Giuliano, for the pics and write-up, and also for all yours and the other USRs’ hard work on the day. You guys certainly did a great job (I might have mentioned that earlier).
I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if there was at least double the 10.5k bikes that are reported to have been there.

Unfortunately I don’t know much about what was going on with the queues as from noon onwards I was off on the bike for the rest of the day. If it helps, there was a group of Hells Angels that tried to queue jump and a female Support Rider stood up to them and put them very much in their place. I know the queues were being back filled as fast as they were moving off.
couldnt go to this myself but i have much respect and apreciation for all those that attended…
thank you ;)
this bloke takes the meaning of being an a@rsehole to a whole new level.
i rode through WB at about 4pm, the locals i spoke to were appreciative of the ride.
I was there in WB around the same time - and says a lot that after a whole day of ‘smelly noisey hairy’ bikes so many people were still on the street to wave and slap hands etc.
That reporter got it all wrong (Smelly Noisy Hairy Bikers) where did the hairy bit come from.
